Bye Fred. Had his moments, always seemed like a nice kid, but could just never really get behind him as a player. No faulting his production in the previous two seasons, perfectly acceptable, but he struggled for impact in the big games, didn't feel like he ever quite worked out what his role on the team was. Then this season his form has dipped badly. Can say the same for a lot of our players, but still, in that position, and being unsigned with no new deal in sight, he had to go.
Good return given where things are at currently. But if you look over the longer term, the guy was pick 29, played two decent seasons as a bottom 6 forward, and has then returned a 42 or so, plus a 4th and a vaguely middling prospect. Call it even I suppose.
We'll see if Wanner becomes anything. Seems like there is a little hope and something to work with there. It is easy enough to dig a little into his 2023 suspension and find some speculation, also not hard to work out which of it is more likely to be accurate. But it's the past, he was young and the matter is closed, so I think it's fair to leave it at that and simply see how he goes in Boston.
Solid move. Hopefully Sweeney is not done yet.
