Maybe because I'm just an old cranky sob but I'm not getting my panties in a wad. Not a damn thing any of us can do about it whether Freddie comes back in 1 week, 1 month or next year. Hopefully Raanta can hold the fort with Coochie on call if needed. I'll just sit and pot whatever potables I may be potting during the games and hope for the best whoever is in goal. I mean, it can't be worse than Darling can it? (Looking at you Jack).

Boy, does this seem like blind optimism now.
Or an indication there was a setback. Nothing in those early statements about his availability indicates a malicious intent to deceive over the possibility that a setback in his recovery occurred instead.

I didn't mean to suggest that there was anything intentional, just that we jumped the gun with that level of optimism.

I was told he'd be ready by the first round with confidence, I don't think I was lied to but not really sure what happened there. On one hand it was not the first time I have been told something that ended up not happening lol, on the other hand which I find intriguing, what I was told about Raanta ended up being completely true down to the cramps. And goaltending is obviously a different animal than what I had been told about Haydn Fleury. AND this has happened at the same time a few times in Andersen's career now for whatever reason.

I've stopped asking until I see him out on the ice but now I'm told we could see him in the second round. This time I am definitely not running with that report but I guess we could see him. I would never go with a report that I didn't believe to be true so obviously it is frustrating when this happens and I feel sure about something, but I think it must be the nature of the injury

*speculation*

Teams are vague about injuries during the regular season, they are even more vague when it comes to the playoffs. I bet the team cares very little about what fans know on his injury front and I doubt they spend any time thinking about "intentionally misleading" the media and fans. He's either not recovering as quickly as they had hoped/expected, he's had a setback of some sort or they underestimated the impact of the injury. It's not really that complicated IMO.

This is the sort of thing that leads me to believe (speculate) (completely make up stories) that this was most likely a relatively minor injury that's just not healing as fast as we all would like. Something like a joint strain that was supposed to be completely better by now, but is taking its time getting back to 100%. And until it gets to 100%, there's that risk of re-injury or just being a hindrance.

At least, that explanation makes more sense to me than the alternatives. At this point nobody is nervously wondering if Freddie's in the crease for the next game. If anything the Rangers might welcome a rusty goalie coming off injury rather than the one who's riding a wave of success and confidence.

Exactly. If you're going into a Game 7 and the other team rolls out a goalie who's been on IR for a month, if it's anyone other than Patrick Roy you're salivating. Turns out he stops 26/30 and 3 of those goals were him getting beaten clean.

Of course I can kind of understand it from the Pens point of view, considering how the momentum had shifted prior to Game 7.

As a fan, I'd be totally for this if it was done in purpose to intentionally mislead the opponent.

"I tell you that's legit news, their fans at HF aren't known for getting overtly agitated without solid cause!"

Oooooo, so this is like an HFExclusive? I like it! Be warned though, we don't pay well here for that stuff...unless you've figured out a way to buy bitcoins with VCash.

You can either throw a rage tantrum or you can just accept it is what it is. We're in a good position either way. The only thing that's a little interesting is I seem to remember Rod almost calling out Mrazek at a point last year for not being ready to play when it seemed like he should be after the finger injury, but I don't think we've gotten that here. They probably just know he's in a tough position and there's not much they can do but wait.

We should be able to get by the Rangers with Antii this series but Tampa-Cats are a different story. We’ll need Freddie to win that one plus a Final series

Holy shit, HF should roll out VCash as an actual cryptocurrency!
I know the perfect Hurricanes Legend Crypto Bro to promote it...
