Does he play defense? 'Cause that's where the problems have been the past 4-5 games.
Raanta and Pyotr have been bad the past 4 games. Way too many soft goals

It's the NHL. There will never be a game where the defense prevents all scoring chances. I'm willing to defend a goalie here, especially if the goals against are breakaways, but it's a little silly to hear some argue like Adam Gold that the defense seemingly should spend 60 minutes making sure the goalie doesn't see any scoring chances against. That's just not possible, even if we play an AHL team. Not really. The xGA over the last 5 have been on par or better than our season numbers.

Cold streaks happen. I'm not 100% confident in our goalies for the postseason, but I am confident they'll turn it around here in the regular season at least.
Agreed here. The problem with Pytor, is that his confidence is going to be shattered if the league's best are allowed to pick him apart and expolit his weakness before he can refine his NHL game. Raanta is just I think aging out. But yeah, both stepped up while Andersen has taken his sweet time to recover - or whatever. I think at this point Pytor goes down to the AHL to get starts and his confidence back. Hopefully Andersen can come in and be useful and give us at least average goaltending, but I am not holding my breathAnyone arguing the defense was the main problem in the previous 4 games is giving the horrid goal tending a pass. Which, is interesting, but Raanta and Pyotr have carried this team to 1st in the Division while Andersen watched lifetime movies, so I think they are allowed a few off nights. Let's just hope it doesn't continue.

yeah I don't think it's a confidence issue, I think he got cold after sitting out a few weeks and his game relies a lot on getting in a good rhythm. We saw this with him in Russia too. He did not play well whenever he had scattered starts or time off. He was great whenever he was able to string starts together. It's a catch 22. He can't refine his NHL game without facing the league's best. So if that shatter's his confidence, then maybe he's not mentally strong enough.
He seems to have a lot of confidence to me, but I'm not in the dressing room.
Two weeks ago we would have all said three headed monster. But with the last several games having been bad for him and the team, who knows? I think he is going to be sent down for more work, but I won’t be surprised if he is kept up either.Do you guys have any idea how the goaltending situation will play out? Is Pyotr going to be sent down to clear the roster spot? Or are you guys going with the three headed monster?
This sounds eerily like the Sabres' situation with Luukkonen, Comrie, and AndersonTwo weeks ago we would have all said three headed monster. Comparatively speaking, everyone is short compared to FreddieOn Freddy?!?
Once Raanta is healthy I agree. Sounds like Raanta may need some time to heal up before Kochetkov goes back to Chicago.I thought Andersen looked sharp last night.
The 3-headed monster idea seems nice but in reality it rarely works. It would mean Pyotr doesn’t play much and as a young goalie he needs games. I would send him down.

Raanta is day to day?
Agreed, at the very least in the NHL Pyotr would be needing to get 50% of starts to have enough work and get into a nice rhythm. With his recent struggles and Freddie's return that doesn't make a ton of sense. I'd send him down to get most of the starts in Chicago and ride Freddie with Raanta rotating in on back to backs and occasional breathers for Freddie.I thought Andersen looked sharp last night.

Based on RBA's comments on Sirius this afternoon that sounds like the plan. He said a decision would be made after the weekend's games.Agreed, at the very least in the NHL Pyotr would be needing to get 50% of starts to have enough work and get into a nice rhythm.
