Player Discussion Fraser Minten

If he turned into Eller type I would be very happy. I think he may have a little better hockey IQ than Eller, so ceiling may be higher.

I think it was a great deal for both team.

Boston got a prospect pretty close of NHL level and bruins fan will love him even if he would be just a 3C and a late 1st

leafs find a needed RHD who bring what's the team needed in term of quality.

I hope he has a good game, but I won't be surprised if he sucks given the team around him and the current trajectory. I do hope that if he doesn't look great we won't have a bunch of posts crapping all over the kid and the trade. It's going to be hard for him out there in this situation.

He had 2 goals 2 assists in brief time up with Leafs.

He did, but Leafs are a good team whereas this Bruins team is a clown show at the present time. I like Minten as a prospect for us, I just hope our colleagues around here appreciate that if we don't see much out of him (just as with Lysell) a lot of it is down to the team being complete crap.

If you are only looking at stats, then I agree.

But there is plenty you can judge a player on when given this opportunity.

Are those the things that the average fan is going to see, though? If Minten goes 45% at the dot, is a -2 and doesn't score, you can bet the boo birds will be out in force. I guess what I am getting at in judging is the not what the Bruins are looking for development-wise, but the fan reactions. Hope you're doing okay, too, Dom!

Her's what Public Enemy No 1 had to say about Mint. Straight from the horse's (ass) mouth

Berube: He is a smart guy. It is an optional skate, and he played last night, so he could take the day if he wanted. He is working on his game, trying to get better and staying sharp. He’s got the Johnny T in him. There is something that is in those guys.

What are you looking for from a young player like Minten to know if they are ready to stick?

Berube
: Competitiveness is a big thing. If you look at the minor leagues and guys who are NHL players, a lot of times, it boils down to how competitive they are. There are talented guys in the minors. A lot of the time, they don’t stick in the NHL because I don’t feel they are competitive enough.

[Minten] is a competitive guy. He wants to be up here playing. He does whatever he has to do.

Better off looking at his tape when he was up with Leafs :sarcasm:No, I get what you are saying but to get a real good read on him I would hope he is out with Pasta. My hope is he can bring offense because that is the biggest need.

Excited to see what we've got here. Minten/Khusy might be an interesting duo to watch in the future as competitive guys with enough skill to have middle 6 potential and will most likely be working together a lot on the same line.
