I admit to being skeptical about this tournament from the onset. The level of competition it would bring. But you have to give credit to all the players who participated for the show they put on, showing how much patriotism is a big part of hockey.

I admit to being skeptical about the composition of Team Canada's lineup, but obviously the management and coaches were able to identify big game performers.

Feel bad for our Jets who didn't get to play a part in the decisive game. And for Helly he's still the best goalie in the league this year, just a tough outcome. Hopefully he rebounds strong.

Proud of the Manitobans who performed tonight. Well maybe not Mark Stone, but you know he was there.

I think Jordan Binnington just made a name for himself again, maybe he has trade value now, idk.

I think Thomas Harley might have just passed Josh Morrissey on the radar for Team Canada's Olympic team. I knew the kid was good, but he's still getting better.

The more I watched Drew Doughty over the tournament the more I think he's going to be missed when his HoF career is over.

I hope Crosby and Mackinnon enjoyed the experience of playing hockey together against some of the best. But please stay out of our division Sid.

Marner to Mc David for the GWG is going to be the hallmark moment for Rogers this year.

Jacob Slavin certainly got more attention than I think he ever has in his career. Well deserved.

Still not a fan of the Tkachuks but give them credit, they are the ones who garnered the most attention for this tourney.

Now back to our regularly scheduled season please, and the big Trophy hunt.
When Makar was out Morrissey was clearly the #1D for Canada. Harley didn't pass him, but maybe he passed somebody else.

I mean, I'm the first guy to give Harley his flowers for almost jumping on a plane to Cabo and instead showing up at the tournament to play outstanding.

But I don't think Harley passed Morrissey on any planet.

Morrissey makes any iteration of Canada, regardless if there's zero injuries to anybody else, and plays a key role, 100%.

I don't want to start a debate tonight, I'm good at getting into arguments. But in my mind there's speed, then there is size and speed, and size matters, seemed to have an impact on the U.S. rush. One could also say Parayko looked better without Morrissey than with him. There's still Theodore in the mix too. It's going to be a competition to get on that defense next year, beyond Makar.

But maybe you're right.

With all due respect man, there's no debate. I understand non Jet fans, but we shouldn't be underselling our own like this when we get to watch him on a nightly basis.

JoMo is fantastic. Canada could have used him tonight in the worst way to have another puck mover out there, besides Makar, utilizing his skating and pushing play.

Let's not forget who was elevated to #1 duties when Makar wasn't able to go against the USA last Saturday....

Clearly HC thinks the world of him, too. Rightfully so.

morrissey is a top10 defensemen in the league, was put on the #1 powerplay and played the most minutes when makar was out, the only defensemen ahead of him on canada's roster is makar...
Sorry Morrissey is top 5 right? :)

Great win!

But WTF was Marchand doing on the roster?

Binnington came through and out goalied Helly in the final!

Cirelli dressed

Its not Helly’s fault that USA shooters can’t shot high ;)

Unlike McDavid and Bennett :)

I think Josh Morrissey is fantastic. It's been fun to watch him on a nightly basis.

What I believe though might have come out of this game heading forward is HC looks at Toews-Makar and Harley-Doughty as two potential pairings for the Olympics. Where Morrissey, Theodore, Sanheim, Parayko, Pietrangelo and who knows who else may step up leaves a good battle. There's different ways that could go.

Slavin received a lot of attention, but I think there's going be a lot of talk about effective Harley was coming into this tournament tomorrow and beyond. And that's credit to the kid who stepped up. 2nd youngest player on team after our own Seth Jarvis, who had a helluva a game.

So let's not spoil a good thing. It was a team effort.

Doughty will be 36 years old, he shouldn't be anything other than a spare defenseman for the Olympic team .

Binnington... I take it all back...

That’s the great thing about Sports isn’t it. Players like Binngington get a chance to shut people like ps up . Even a maligned guy like the “role player” Sam Bennett was a beast, he generated a team leading 6 shots on net in the final and got a really nice goal and he was our hammer.

That was a fantastic game to watch!

So happy we won!

I can't blame Hellebuyck on the McDavid OT goal, someone left McDavid all alone in the slot.

I'm disappointed Morrissey couldn't play.

Kyle Connor is having his Steve Yzerman 1987 moment.

At the time Yzerman was a good goal scorer but did not play a 200 foot game.

He was supposed to play on the 1987 Canada Cup team but was cut in favor of Dale Hawerchuk who out worked him in camp.

It was the slap in the face Yzerman needed to become a complete player.

We'll see how Kyle Connor reacts to being healthy scratched for this game.

I love best on best hockey!

I love cheering for players like Crosby, McDavid, McKinnon et al every few years.

I'm looking forward to more tournaments like this in the future.

I was utterly wrong about Binnington, he brought the full send.

Thanks Binnington.

I had zero interest in this tournament until it basically started. I only managed to watch Canada Sweden, sort of saw the Canada US game, and then the final last night.

This was a great format and a great thing to watch. I stand humbly corrected. I enjoyed this more than the olympics TBH.

Are they doing this again?
