2014 was even better, although maybe not on paper. They allowed 3 goals the entire tournament and 1 combined against Finland, the USA, and Sweden. Also backed by a prime Carey Price.

Better all-around roster in 2010 for sure. But to have McDavid, MacKinnon, Crosby, Marner and Reinhart all in your top 6? I think it clears the 2010s top 6 if we’re talking pure firepower. The 2010 bottom 6 is more skilled and I think that goes back to the weaker Canadian drafting in recent years to fill those roles, but the 2025 roster still has guys like Point (who would probably make the 2010 line-up).

The 2010 defence and goalies are hands-down better. 2025 defence can probably create a little more with guys like Makar, Morrissey and Theodore.

I actually disagree; McDavid and Marner both need to the puck on their stick to be at their most dangerous in the offensive zone. Especially wouldn’t want McDavid being dragged down by Marner due to his terrible record in high leverage situations. I would have Marner playing lower in the lineup in a defensive matchup line

Teams are going to double team McDavid and this should create more space for Marner to roam in the offensive zone. If there's one player who can elevate Marners play knowing his struggles it's McDavid.

The only thing that I'm rooting for in this tournament is for McDavid to be bumped to the fourth line or healthy scratched so he can get more rest for games that actually matter.
