World Cup: Four Nations Tournament-Team Canada

The first pairing is good.

The rest? Eugh. Maybe like 5 years ago.
the first pairing in ELITE
the 2nd pairing features a guy that's almost a PPG player and Doughty always brings his best playing for Canada

Parayko is suspect but Morrissey is on the top pair on the best team in the league this year...and he's playing bottom pairing

Not sure if I like Stone on Crosby's wing (with MacKinnon on the other wing). Seems like a pace/style of play mismatch, but let's see if it works.

With Konecny apparently out sick today, when he returns I assume we see him at RW on the Cirelli line, instead of Bennett?

Or Jarvis spot on 3rd line. Do the extras dress for the games or no?

Top PP:

Reinhart - McDavid - Crosby
MacKinnon - Makar

I have a feeling Marner is on that #1 PP fairly quickly

Yea, pretty much replace Crosby with Marner and it looks to be perfect.

I could see Crosby subbing in if they elect to go with Marner on PK1 and have him play PP2 but with Crosby himself feeling banged up, I'm not sure what his status is going to be for special teams.

Makes sense. Marner is probably going on PK1 IMO.
Both those PP units are insane.

Uhhh Morrissey is a top 10 defensemen in the league and on the third pairing..

I'm not as sold on Morrissey as some people are. He was certainly having a Norris caliber season last year.... until he suddenly wasn't. He's good, no question... Just not sure about how elite he actually is.

Honestly they need to spread out the talent a bit. That’s a lot of guys who love to carry the puck on PP#1. Makes sense to have Marner on PP#2.

PP1 will get like 1:30-1:40 of the PP, that’s the reality.

PP2 will be retrieving the puck from their own zone, getting one rush up ice and then the penalty will be over.

I think it depends on what style of PK they're up against. If its a passive PK then yes too many puck carriers will over complicate things but if its an aggressive PK, having guys who whole style is drawing guys in to open up space makes more sense
Marner and Makar would be a great pair for drawling guys in to open up space for the other guys

I'm biased but against a passive PK if you wanted to get rid of an OZ puck carrier type without compromising zone entries Brayden Point is about as good in the bumper as anybody has been for the last few years. Pass him the puck 5-10 feet in front of the crease and if it gets to his stick it almost doesn't even matter who's on him. But I think Cooper already knows that, lol

Point has been flying under the radar the last few seasons for some reason.

He stands 5th in goals/gp over the last 3 years. Thats higher than Ovi, Rantanen, MacKinnnon, McDavid, Nylander, etc.

Crosby, Makar, Mack, McDavid, Reinhart.
PP1
How on earth can you bet against Canada unless the other teams simply refuse to take any penalties?

Canada fans should be in for a treat. He is such a fun player to watch. When he gets onto a pass with speed in the neutral zone, it feels like it could be a goal any time he touches the puck. Obviously plays with some great players, but he is special in his own right.

Yup. Crosby is adept at tipping pucks and playing around the crease on the pp. My guess is that will be his role while McDavid, Makar, and Mack see most of the puck. Reinhardt will be in his usual bumper spot. Personnel makes a lot of sense for the unit.
