For sure. That's where USA has the advantage, if Hellbuyck is on there's arguably no one better.
I keep thinking Hellbuyck is Canadian lol. This is USA's best team since the 2010 Olympics. Makes me excited to see who they ice for Milan-Cortina next year.
Korpi should have been in the conversation but I get why he wasn't chosen. It is criminal to have guys like Pasta, Kopitar and Draisaitl not in this tournament. I hope they figure something out to get those players and others in if they do this again. Russia made their own bed but it is a shame we won't see guys like Panarin and Zadorov. I will leave it at that.
Scheifele didn't make the team because despite being one of the league's better scorers, he his repulsively bad defensively. Like one of the worst defensive forwards in the league bad. Not going to take him when you can get somebody like Reinhart who is producing at the same clip + being better in his own end and his game would not fit in a bottom 6 role.
He went with goalies in Hill and Binnington who most recently won a Cup and Montembeault being the poplar choice with the home town fans, and was also the goalie on the 23 worlds for Canada, but dam Canada really doesn’t have a clear cut choice like the Americans with Hellebucyk.
