Finland snubbed Korpi so thats why it shouldn't be Finland.

Sanderson they have as a reserve, he wont be there when it ends

I do as well, I think Sanderson eventually will be in there ahead of Hanifan, he's a stud well rounded both ends of the ice. Love the Mac / Werenski pair!

Its true for every team and based on # of players participating Bruins have less to worry about than TB and Florida in their own Division. They all want to play and I will obviously watch.


I am looking forward to the US\Canada game on Saturday night. Should be an interesting atmosphere at Bell Centre and I will leave it there.

I keep thinking Hellbuyck is Canadian lol. This is USA's best team since the 2010 Olympics. Makes me excited to see who they ice for Milan-Cortina next year.

No offense to Korpi, but I wouldn't have picked him either.

Fully agree about the Czechs though. Can't have a remotely serious international hockey tourny without them in it. Would say the same about the Russians if not for the politics.

Korpi should have been in the conversation but I get why he wasn't chosen. It is criminal to have guys like Pasta, Kopitar and Draisaitl not in this tournament. I hope they figure something out to get those players and others in if they do this again. Russia made their own bed but it is a shame we won't see guys like Panarin and Zadorov. I will leave it at that.

Scheifele didn't make the team because despite being one of the league's better scorers, he his repulsively bad defensively. Like one of the worst defensive forwards in the league bad. Not going to take him when you can get somebody like Reinhart who is producing at the same clip + being better in his own end and his game would not fit in a bottom 6 role.

Same with Thompson; Big kid, but doesn't really play that big.

You're still right it about being Sweeney f***ery though. Why is Colton Parayko locked into a spot when he hasn't been good since the Blues won the cup? Especially over a guy like Sanheim who has been fantastic leading a Flyers D core with very little help around him.

Why are literally any of those three goalies picked over Logan Thompson? Hill and Binnington may have won cups years back but they've been both garbage since. Even before he had the season he was having i would have picked Thompson ahead of both Montembeault and Hill.

I’d be lying if I said I won’t watch. But yeah I have to agree with the sentiment I’m not really interested in this.

And I think that’s because of two things.

1) The timing. This would be sick in early September where everyone *should be healthy and not worried about being ready for the final stretch of the season and playoffs. And the point in the offseason where fans are dying for hockey.

2) Four nations. Missing a lot of generational talent including our noodle guy.

He went with goalies in Hill and Binnington who most recently won a Cup and Montembeault being the poplar choice with the home town fans, and was also the goalie on the 23 worlds for Canada, but dam Canada really doesn’t have a clear cut choice like the Americans with Hellebucyk.

Basically it looks as if Sweeney and company Went with the approach of trying to catch lightning in a bottle twice.

Scheifele was the next guy up but yea an eye popping omission.
