Thats assuming they win Finland in their last game and oh boy if I learned anything in my years watching hockey anything is possible in these kind of tournaments, maybe not propable but possible.

Finland didnt look bad against Sweden but then again there is always little more in play when they meet.
To me, the Finns have a better roster than Sweden. They have more game breakers and they can clog it up with their forwards. It will not be easy, especially since Finland can play this knowing if they win they can get a revenge game against USA.

Any of these dudes on your list?
r/80smovies - ‘80s movie villains- who do you love to hate the most?

Love that Mama Fratelli (Goonies) made it.
Bolo Yeung was such an underrated actor. Every time he was on the screen in Bloodsport, he took over the scene.

Sure, I knew the protag would win in the end, but it was always the dumb bullies and silly sidekick that made those movies watchable for me.
Oh for sure they are that, but I never considered taking their side. Then again, Binnington.

I spy the love child of Duncan Siemens and Tyler Arnason, bottom second from left.

Been playing, coaching and watching this sport for more than 60 years and remember when the Armerican team wasn't worth Canada's attention. They would mock us telling us to our face that the Russians were their real rivals and only they were worthy of Canada's respect. Team USA? Second rate or worse.

Tonight, USA Hockey had the better goalie, a much better defense, played a better team game and was physically superior. Canada's stars were a throw back to how to play individual hockey. But Crosby, MacKinnon and McDavid were not the reincarnation of Gretzky, Lemieux and Hawerchuk.

If Binnington doesn’t allow the 1st goal which was a stupid soft goal, the game would go to OT and I’d like Canadas chances to win. Canada needs a goalie. It’s really hard to believe that the hockey giant nation like Canada doesn’t have good goalies. Why can’t Canada develop good goalies anymore that’s the question

Gotta wonder if they now throw Adin Hill in for a do-or-die game.

Montembault won't touch the ice this tourney lol.

No Cooper or Armstrong for the Olympics would be a great thing.
A lot of nepotism-style decisions for this roster.

Cooper likely demanding both Hagel and Cirelli.

Armstrong pushing for Parayko and Binnington.

Bruce Cassidy reportedly telling management not to select Logan Thompson.

Don Sweeney making sure Brad Marchand is on the team despite the regression clearly in full swing.

Even with the replacement, Jim Nill/Pete DeBoer flexing muscles and ensuring it's Thomas Harley over a guy like Darnell Nurse who - hilariously bad contract aside - has genuinely played like a top pair defender this season.

IMO a team of:

Crosby - MacKinnon - Marner
Suzuki - McDavid - Stone
Kadri - Scheifele - Point
Batherson - Johnston - Wilson
Reinhart

Toews - Makar
Morrissey - Reilly
Nurse - Dobson

Thompson
Blackwood

Would have been a lot more skilled and a lot faster while not losing grit because you would have guys like Wilson, Kadri, Batherson, and Nurse in your lineup.

Their best goalies aren't there

Oh yeah, I have long thought Canada will fall behind other countries soon. Not only do they not have a legit skill development program the way USA/Finland/Czechia seem to, they make playing hockey insanely difficult financially. I'll bet there are more than a few kids with all-world talent as young kids who cannot afford to keep playing and switch to basketball or soccer.

When I saw final rosters, USA immediately jumped out at me as the best. I didn't even think Canada had THAT much of a star power edge because USA has some elite guys of their own. The only guy who stuck out like a sore thumb was Brock Nelson instead of Clayton Keller. Otherwise, they built a fast, skilled team and they work hard.

Clearly, USA management learned their lesson from the 2014 and 2016 disasters when they looked incredibly old and slow. It actually feels like Canada fell into that trap of picking "winners" and guys with reputations rather than legitimately better players.

I will harp on it until proven wrong: Anthony Cirelli has no business on this team and honestly, neither does Brandon Hagel.
Neither does Marchand. Suzuki certainly would look better than any of those guys, heck probably Scheifele too.

Weegar in there for Parayko is another one they maybe could have done.

Enjoyed that. International games with NHLers are great actually. There are several players on that Canadian team who shouldn't be there.

Hill should have been the starter to begin with.

Binner has let in 3 if not 4 soft goals.

Morons like Kelly hrudey who suggest that Binner 'made up for it by making great saves in OT' are too stupid to understand that it wouldn't have gotten to OT if he had made the routine save.

He's been crap and other teams like Finland and Sweden didn't hesitate to make switches when they felt their goalies weren't at the top of their game.

Putting Hill in VS Finland is a no-brainer. Can't have your goalie giving up freebies every game in a tournament like this.
