So unfortunate to see Mac look like his pre-shoulder surgery self in that game with the hitting and being physical, only to get injured.


This Bruind season is really something else. I hope he rests up. Shut him down for as long as it takes. You don't f*** with infections at all.

I hope USA takes care of the job tomorrow.

The Canadian roster has won a combined 20 Stanley Cups to the Americans' three. They’ve played in the big moments, felt the pressure and persevered. Sidney Crosby is tied for the tournament lead in points, and has the ability to calm the troops and not get lost in the moments when they come (as we saw when he iced the Finland game). If there are big mistakes in the final game, Canada's experience factor makes it feel less likely it'll come from their side.
Talent vs Experience. IMO

If Binnington plays well and Canada are the victors I can see Canadian honks
calling him Winnington after eviscerating him all tourney...lol.

In addition to experience I kinda feel like Canada has some talent, too.

I think/hope in future tourneys like this they will have bigger rosters. Not saying they need to bring everyone to the venues, but why the limits?

I mean, if Canada chose their team and after the semis decided they wanted to sit out 5 guys who didn’t play well and put in 5 different guys, as an American, I wouldn’t care as long as they are Canadian.

As far as I’m concerned, every eligible player should be able to be added, at the GM’s request. In fact it would/could make it more entertaining.

Imagine if Canada called in Tom Wilson for tomorrows game?

We’re talking great hockey with WWE level entertainment.

The summit series back in 72 had a 35 man roster

Just listened to Elliot Freidman on Fan 960...
He said that the Bruins reported that McAvoy was out for Thursday's game, Team USA did not issue any statement.
Reason being...the Bruins are pissed off with the US medical staff that they dropped the ball in handling McAvoy.

This ain't me saying this, it's Freidman.

If that's true, then shame on Team USA's medical staff.

The fact he got an infection so quickly from that injury and had to have it scraped out? He's lucky he didn't get sepsis. You can't f*** around with that shit. I remember when Bergy got an infection in his elbow. Scary stuff.

If the Bruins are pissed, I don't blame them

Bruins screwed up Jakes concussion IIRC and let Patrice Bergeron play game 6 in 2013 so....

From what I understand the infection was in the joint and external and only became an issue when Charlie complained of pain.... Do the Team USA doctors have special glasses they can head these things off before they start?

Was the shot administered in Boston? If so, how does McAvoy not tell Sacco or Neely?

He was under the care of the US team doctors. Why would Mac have reason to tell Sacco or Neely?
That communication if at all would be between US doctors to Bruins doctors and probably Sweeney since he’s part of the tournament even if Canada.

They let Bergy play in game 5 in 2023 too. And so on. You're quite right, every medical team can and will make mistakes.

But my guess is the report that the Bruins are upset about the McAvoy situation is probably accurate. No-one likes when others mishandle their property, so to speak, and your own past errors tend to be swiftly forgotten when there's the chance to lay blame on others.

Regardless, what's done is done. Now it's just about recovery for Charlie. Boston's season is cooked anyway so at least there's no need to worry about playoffs etc. Next time we play the Habs though, Zadorov better beat the stuffing out of Armia. He has it coming.
