Personally, I have my issues with the Thachuks, as a fan, but they did their job the other night, in all honesty I hate staged fights, stupid in my opinion, but those fights although I would say anyone who says they were staged might be right, but they also were to give a message, and message was sent. The message being sent is still working, prove being Hagel still whining about it, it is in his head and maybe a few others. I was not all on board for this tournament, and still not, but the hockey is great and I am enjoying it.

I prefer the "staged" fights to the "oh shit my teammate got hit with a big check and I'm close by and have to do something" fight. At least the guys in the staged fights want to go and aren't just trying to not get hit with a punch.

What exactly was the message? That the US team would be tough and physical? Everyone knew that prior to puck drop. Was the message that they would goon it up with smaller, non-fighter players? I'm sure Team Canada is shaking in their boots. (I at least give Miller credit for going with a larger player.) All it accomplished was to take 2 of Team USA's most effective players off the ice for 5 minutes.

Think the message was they would not be intimidated.

Hey,you are giving USA a goal this time at least 😆

My last score was merely what I hope will happen. This is my actual prediction.

ok Cam and Donnie, if you weren`t sure about the "path", does this convince ya yet ?

He won't be back for at least a month and even then it might be two (assuming everything goes well). No f***ing around with infections like that. I know from experience.

I agree with you on the hits, if they are clean does not mean you rush in and start a fight, if it is one of your star players he is being targeted maybe, but too much automatically someone needs to fight because of a hit. That hit on McAvoy was dirty, that calls for a response, I am against hits from behind anyways, that and hits to the head.

It isn't sounding like he will be playing...and shouldn't.

His health is far more important and being young he will have other chances at playing for his country.
Agree. Might be a case where he feels a million bucks tomorrow but he clearly was very ill/injured at some point and it's serious.

After Saturday I had him inline to be captain in Milan since Matthews has stunk.

Intimidated physically? There was no one in the hockey world who thought the US team would be intimidated physically by Team Canada. Not. one. person.

Intimidated on the scoresheet? So the message was "We're not intimidated by your offensive firepower, and we'll show it by fighting some of your lower-tier players!"

100% nonsense.

It is a bit funny having 3 days between Monday's games and the championship game. I looked at the TD garden schedule and it doesn't list any events there for tonight. Maybe they're fixing the ice?

I could see how the extra time could benefit both teams. Team USA players that are dinged up - apparently both of the Tkachuk bros - have an extra day to heal. Team Canada can use the extra practice to gel more as a team. They say the team that gels fastest is key to success in these kinds of tournaments, and I think TC started off slow in that regard, relying on individual talents of players like McDavid and McKinnon. Team USA seemed to play better as a team. But now maybe TC is starting to show signs of gelling more as a team.

That, and the nagging injuries to US players - plus the loss of McAvoy, while Makar is probably getting healthier – may spell trouble for the red, white and blue.

honestly Mike, I`d simply shut him down for the year even if he was cleared for the last week or so of the season, as you said, don`t mess around with infections

Incorrect.

Nasty stuff for poor Charlie Mac. Very unusual for the Bruins to release this kind of detail about a player's injury. If it's new policy I'm all for it; if it's a one-off well I'll take it.

Clearly the poor guy has a susceptibility to shoulder issues. Occasionally these sorts of things will settle down as the body continues to mature, which even at 27 is still possible, but most likely he's going to have to manage it for the rest of his career (and beyond). May not shorten his career as such, but will likely compromise it to some extent. That's the roll of the dice.

For now, put him on ice and give him as much time as he needs to rest and heal up. Zero need to rush things. Hopefully with a good break and some strength and conditioning work he can be fully right to go next year, regardless of whether he plays any more at all this current season.
