The way I see it is here in the US we are all somewhat descendants of one Robert Gordon Orr. When the league expanded from 6 to 12 teams, they needed a superstar to attach their shin pads to. I remember Derek Sanderson once saying, "We were in Oakland one time and the building was packed. Bobby said "Look at the crowd, they're here to see us. Derek said Bobby, they're here to see you." The rinks all across the country were popping up like Orr jerseys. Street hockey ruled in driveways and parking lots. More teams would be added in 70 and 72 and a new pro league the WHA was formed. All on the back of No. 4. Thank You Canada for the game we all now love and enjoy, Thank You Bobby for all you did for the game and Thank God for the ten years you had here in Boston and that I was here to be a part of it.

It really shouldn't though. We are all from different places and we root for different teams. We can agree to disagree for 3hrs every time the US plays Canada. I don't take it personal and neither should you. That doesn't mean I'm not gonna bust your nuts if Canada loses......and I'd expect the same if the US loses to Canada on Thursday. That's what makes sports amongst friends fun, IMHO.

I've spent a lot of time working in Canada and have a lot of Canadian friends that I consider life-long. Hell, some of them are Habs and Leafs fans. I'd do anything for them if they asked me, and I'm 99% sure they'd do the same. However we've agreed to mutually, and intensely, dislike each other for 3hrs every time our teams play each other, and we've each agreed to take shit from the other when our teams lose...My best friend Dimitri took me to a Bs-Habs game at the Bell Centre back in 2015 and the Bruins lost 5-1. I ate a TON of shit that night, but it was one of the most fun nights I've ever had at a hockey game in my entire life.

Its a f***ing game. Not life and death. I sometimes temporarily forget that in the heat of the moment, and I hope you'll give me some grace with that. I'll do the same with you. Deal?

That said....I hope Finland beats you guys 32-1 tomorrow.;)
If it was a few months ago I'd be all onbaord with dissing and chirping my neighbors to the South.....it has a certain off flavour (Canadian spelling) now for a reason not to be mentioned (Valdormort) ...but yeah that aside I hope one or both of the Tkachucks loses a testicle playing hotel hallway hockey with ministicks as they channel their inner 10 year old selves

There are some suspiciously Bruins-esque faults with the Canadian roster. I wonder why?

But a team with that much top end star power can never be written off. Even if they end up winning the tourney though, if Canada are smart they'll use this week to re-think their strategy for the Olympics. A few tweaks should be in order.
A few tweaks? The whole bottom 6 and the goalies who were chosen should be re-thought. It’s natural as a coach to want your own guys there but Cooper bringing 3 Lightening players is wild. Cirelli should not be on this team. On the other hand getting Makar back completely changes things. We had such a terrible time moving the puck from the D. We badly need him back today

He’s on pace to be a 30 goal scorer this year
I how highly doubt he hits 30 , but if he does all the better for the Bruins. What he does in the regular season, does not mean he should be playing a major role in this tournament, that game the other night at that speed, showed me at that level of play, it has passed him by. Sorry he had his day.

Interesting to see how team USA approaches their tilt with nothing on the line meanwhile TC fighting for their lives and while the Finns thin on the back end, they are the pain in the ass kind of team that always seems to find a way to stick around in big games, wouldn`t put TC in the finals yet, not with their putrid goaltending

Someone within the TC decision maker team needs to look at what other countries are doing to develop goalies and do the same, it`s gone from a position of luxury having many top 10 in the world goaltenders to zippo

If Canada loses tomorrow, Don Sweeney and Jon Cooper will be banned from Canada and Tom Wilson will be their first selection for the 2026 Olympics.:sarcasm:

None will be actual fact of course, but I wouldn’t think Sweeney would ever be part of putting a team Canada team together again and Wilson would be a member of Canada for the Olympics.
It would be a great thing for Bruins fans though to expose him more.

Canada needs to avoid overtime and putting faith in USA hands .

If Tom Wilson was there, the D men would be looking over shoulder bigtime. He has 42 pts in 55 games ,,24 goals..Sweeney dropped ball bigtime not taking him if u ask me.The man can wreck people .And I am no Wilson fan either for record, but it's the truth.
And no Scheifle? Makes no sense.
