I'm really not sure how you can blame Charlie there. Was he supposed to give up an easy breakaway? He was where he's supposed to be. The breakdown happened in front of him and the fastest player in the history of the league was the one he had to try and react to.
I agree, I thought his defensive partner was closer to McDavid originally and McAvoy wasn't sure if he should fully commit himself to stopping McDavid.
