Might create more separation, but it also creates a bigger possibility to catch up.

I think one would have to "simulate" the past 10 or so seasons outcome with both systems to really get a feel for which syterm would bring most excitement.

With that said, this season is probably not the correct one to push for a change given how exciting the playoff chase is.

To bring it back to four nations, the way things have unfolded, a 2 point system would have created more drama.
Tonight's game US vs Sweden could be irrelevant with this 3 point system.
With a 2 point system US would be at 4 points, and the rest still at 2, so with a 2 point system, Sweden could have gone the final irregardless of how the Fin - Can game finishes.

This is the most uncharacteristic team Finland I've seen in 30+ years of watching hockey. The only two players trying are Granlund and Barkov, the rest are just standing around watching with Rantanen and Laine being the worst.
