Why did Larkin pick#21 over #71?

He only went with 71 because a bunch of other numbers he wanted, including 21 (taken by Tomas Tatar) weren’t available.

I'm guessing I'm in the minority but to me the Tkachuks taking themselves off the ice for 5 minutes in a staged fight to start the game is a sign of their stupidity, not leadership.
