Hockey Canada might not have picked this team, but Armstrong had plenty of say in the team, and he's one of Hockey Canada's old boys, he's probably the head old boy at this point. McDavid hasn't played for Canada since the World Juniors, in his draft year, he, and his success, has nothing to do with Hockey Canada, and the joke that they are.

The fact that a team that had 2 losses could advance over a 2 win team is messed up.

Get rid of the loser point entirely.

If a team can take 2 teams to OT and beat the 3rd in regulation then they deserve to advance.

2 OT wins and a loss isn't that great.

If taking away loser point then make OT win worth only 1 pt.

The idea of this is for teams to try and win in regulation

Nurse is better than Toews, I don't think he's $2M better, but he is better. Toews is just a Makar appendage.

The lack of respect that Nurse gets because he has a big contract, and had an off year-18 months is insane. The guy plays crazy hard, crazy big minutes. He rarely gets PP time or offensive time. He hasn't had a consistent D partner for almost 3 or 4 years now. He outperformed EVERY contract he got in the NHL. He's tough, he's a great skater, his teammates love him, he has put up with crazy fans in a crazy city, and I've never seen him be anything but professional. How was he not even a consideration for this team? You play Nurse with Makar, and I bet you he plays pretty damn near as well as Toews does. Take contracts out of the deal, would you rather have Sanheim, Doughty, Harley over Nurse? I'd take Nurse over all 3, easily. You take Nurse off of the Oilers, and there is A MONSTER SIZED hole.

There was a tourney back when my son played hockey that had a points system that incorporated penalty minutes into their points formula. The higher number of penalty minutes you had, the less points you received, even if you win the game. We didn’t lose a game and didn't even make the playoff round. Last game of the round robin against the home team we were given a bunch of random 10 minute misconducts at the end of the game that sealed our fate. Have never seen as bizarre a placing system as that in my life.
