Four Nations-cup

McDavid was invisible after the 1st. I don’t know if he didn’t want to take the limelight or what it was. I would also like to point out that none of these dmen move the puck as well as Bouchard. I don’t think 97 was hit once in the neutral zone with a breakout pass- they are all great skaters who like to carry the puck up.

Also- next game- have MacKinnon and McDavid switch lines

His lateral movement always comes back after a break. It never lasts for more than a couple periods, one game at most imo. The first period was McJesus again, his movement was ridiculous, then poof, back to straight lines and good defense

He played great the entire game, was one of our better players imo.

Theodore got injured and is out for the tournament. This could be big for the Oilers if he’s out for a long period of time.

Look at the canucks as an example
I am not even trying to be a "don Cherry here"

This is typically true

I don't even want to offend some of our brethren here

I am sorry, Euros, typically, are just softer. They don't "want it" as bad.

But at these National tournaments, you will see these guys go up another level compared to the NHL

Binnington was brutal on the the first two goals, but he has some really good saves especially in overtime. Give him credit. He adjusted

Not many players can do that after a shaky start. I can, and a few others but that's about it.

Certainly nothing wrong with Mc-D's play in this one.

Sid is a legend in International matches for good reason, his performance in these high profile games tends to be legendary.

Big in a bad way is how I see it. Vegas will LTIR him until the playoffs, go big game hunting for another d. That creates two issues. It increases competition in the market for the same position as we’d be wanting to upgrade and they get him back for the playoffs along with their new toy.

So how did sheifle not make the team? Surprised

And...is it possible that Dustin Schwartz is the goalie coach for Canada?? ;)

McDavid was okay. Had some flashes but lost the puck a few times too.

While I understand the "selfish" criticism of MacKinnon, I'd actually be more appreciative of McDavid and co if they were that selfish. Their problem is they're always looking for the pass and that makes them predictable.

Great shot by Marner in OT. That's the kind I want to see from the Oilers.

If ever I disliked Mackinnon before....watching him puck hog took that up a notch
He seems like the type that if people were hyping him up to be "the best" , which some media are, that it would bother him if he actually wasn't.

A top 5 forward in the world is a “puck hog” because he looked off another top 5 player in the world and took a shot? Lol.

Instead, maybe he saw an opening and felt he was in a good place to score. I mean, he’s f***ing good too, right. I don’t like MacKinnon, but I can’t be a hater because he didn’t pass to 97, Good grief. To satisfy puck hog accusations maybe the NHL should rate each player in a hierarchy and institute a rule that the lower rated person must pass to the higher rated person on every play. That would eliminate this situation (and probably a few good scoring opportunities too).

What a crock.

Yeah the criticism comes off as silly as we're all too used to our players passing off any given opportunity. I'd love if McDavid were more selfish.

Have to disagree

Anything that gets rid of the embarrassing all-star game format is automatically one of the smarter things the league has done
Ask Vegas if they like it now, the all star game is also dumb. What they need is just a good break at this time of year to heal, not get injured and get ready for the playoffs.

I get it though, the players are into it and that has a lot of impact as well.

they could get hurt in the Olympics next year...the players know the risks and are playing hard anyways...respect

this is excellent hockey and a reprieve from the "dog days" of the season

He did it 4 times. He literally looked like me using my created player in NHL 25--no one else is getting the puck no matter what. He looked like when an NBA player keeps trying to shoot the 3 despite having a single-digit shooting percentage. He looked like he was telling himself, "I'm A rEaL bUlL." It was embarrassing especially given that he had the best player in the world open in at least 2 of his 4 tries.

Best on best hockey has been a staple of the game since 72. I love it. You can see it means a lot to the players, and although it would be nice if Russia was in, this is the absolute pinnacle of skill in our game.

Fun to watch.
