McDavid had a decent game, but he has got to do a lot better to take any kind of torch from Crosby for international hockey going forward.

There are bigger games ahead. I saw great defense and possession from him
Plus the perfect pass the torch narrative would be for Crosby to be player of the game at first but then McDavid in the final game

The only high IQ play I saw today was the pass on the first goal, which McDavid does all the time with those no look tape to tape passes.

And then his pass in OT is being praised as some super high IQ play?

I’m just saying, Crosby has generational hockey sense. McDavid is no slouch there himself.

Like if you look at the gold medal goal in Vancouver, McDavid doesn’t score that because he isn’t in that position or he doesn’t shoot it quickly enough.

McDavid was invisible after the 1st. I don’t know if he didn’t want to take the limelight or what it was. I would also like to point out that none of these dmen move the puck as well as Bouchard. I don’t think 97 was hit once in the neutral zone with a breakout pass- they are all great skaters who like to carry the puck up.

Also- next game- have MacKinnon and McDavid switch lines

Yup. Agree with this. McDavid was excellent early but there wasn't any chemistry with Marner and Reinhart. Put a hard ice player like Marchand on his line.

I mean Canada wins this game in regulation if Toews can pot the tap in McDavid set him up for in the 3rd.

Only just going through the game now, but that 3-2 goal was so bad lol. Looked clueless on the Brodin one too.
