Forward Thinking Thoughts

This feels like a really underwhelming return for Kaprizov.
I can’t think of any trade where you give up a Kaprizov caliber player where the return doesn’t end up being significantly underwhelming… I’d rather that than Stankoven and 2 late firsts personally..

Probably not wrong. I just think Lundell is pretty firmly a 3C on a contender, and I don't think Samoskevich projects much higher than that. I'd rather be able to swing for a top 6 player, even if it means taking on more risk.

With @Dr Jan Itor's proposal, I would even take Jarvis and some lesser pieces (no Nikishin) over Lundell and Samoskevich just because I'm positive Jarvis is at least a 2nd line player.

I like Lundell more than that, but yeah it’s not anything you get super excited about when you’re trading a player it took two decades to get.

If Jarvis is the centerpiece, I’d be interested to see if we can get Svechnikov as the second piece rather than Nikishin. Again it’s probably too much, but that would excite me. I love Nikishin, but don’t don’t they would include him.

Just a mere thought process

Boldy-Rossi-Jarvis
Svechnikov-Ek-Yurov
Ohgren-XX-XX

Brodin-Jiricek
Buium-Faber

Could play, but it’s still not a contender

I'd add Brodin for them to include Nikishin.

I have a tough time seeing them giving up two of Nikishin, Jarvis and Svechnikov, think it's more likely 1+ bunch of lesser pieces.

Tell me I'm wrong about Rossi and McLeod. Both have 33p 5v5 this year. One PKs the other is in the PP. Heavy d-zone starts vs heavy o-zone starts.

Rossi is the best MN has right now, that doesn't mean much in comparison to the rest of the league. I actually don;t think he'll be traded this off-season. He's worth more to MN than he is in trade.

Brodin is great at what he does, but he's missed 20+ games each of the last seasons. He's only played 70+ games in 3 of the last 10 seasons.

BUF only really has 3 holes 1RD, 1G (they've been worse tha MAF/Gus were last year), a 1st line FWD. They could improve the 4th line, but it's a 4th line so meh. These are holes that you try to fill in FA or inhouse, not via trade.

They had an awful stretch (0-10-3) where the wheels completely fell off, but they were decent before that (11-9-1) and after that (19-16-2).

They've been going big game hunting for a couple years now, Guentzel and Rantanen. For an extended Kaprizov, desperate isn't the right word, but I think they might be extremely motivated.

How about a big Kaboom:

Kaprizov (extended)
Eriksson Ek (they need a 2c)
Brodin

Jarvis
Nikishin
However many 1st rounders makes it even

That's certainly a big kaboom. Inclusion of Eriksson Ek feels like overkill. Like Kaprizov and Brodin alone should be able to get Jarvis and Nikishin, at least in a vacuum. Do they even need Brodin?

Not really, but it maybe lessens the impact if they were penciling Nikishin into the lineup next year.

I mean I would be willing to find something around Kaprizov+Brodin for Jarvis+Nikishin for sure. I wouldn't want to include Ek though. We'd need all the good centers we can get.

This could have all gone in the general thread , what the f*** is wrong with the mods here???? Do your jobs assholes

Every time I’ve posted a thread on this f***ing site for the last 10 years some pos mod has closed it 5 minutes later and said some shit like “this belongs in the general thread”. How about you go f*** yourself clown. 🤡 There are no rules , only favorites and mods who like to power trip here because their tiny little half men who wouldnt make a sound in the real world.

Kap is going to go to WSH at the TDL next year so he can be on the same team as Ovi. It'll be a garbage return because he won't waive his NTC to go anywhere else.

Just reflect on the fact that you felt the need to post this. Completely unnecessary
I have no issue with your thread. I in fact enjoy your thread and appreciate you posting it. I’m simply calling out the ridiculous double standard here as far as moderating goes. It’s pathetic.

If that's the case you don't trade him, and deny him the chance to play with Ovi, who will surely be retired in 26-27.

I don't think that will be the case. Kap will probably look at the Rangers, the FLA teams, maybe DAL, and a few others. For sure, he will be looking at teams who are contenders. I could see CO.

If we have a good year next year then there is a chance we re-sign him. I think he will only re-sign this summer if we overpay him(i.e. 14-15M x 8), and/or we make noise in the playoffs this year and Guerin is able to convince him that next year will be a really good one.

I won't be mad if Kap chooses to move on. This team has done nothing in the playoffs, and he has earned the right to choose where he wants to play once he becomes a FA.
