Rod Gilbert - just announced a few minutes ago:
TASS and Spartak Moscow report that Vladimir Shadrin has passed away today.
He won the Soviet league 3 times and he won the Soviet Cup 2 times. It's wrong to say he never won anything in the USSR.Was kind of underrated player. Scored 3+5 in 8 games at the Summit 72 series. Played his whole career for Spartak, so didn't win anything in USSR, but had a lot of games for Soviet Team. At age 31 moved to Japan and played there for 4 seasons.

You sure nobody cared? Watching those old videos it seems it like it was a big deal there was even a trophy to win:Yeah, my bad. He won 2 championships in 60s, when Iwas too small to remember, and in 75-76 season, which I've forgotten about. My bad. Soviet Cup was a tournament, I didn't even remember about. Nobody cared about it.
