Former players who would fit 2022 TML

Without going too far back, Kulemin, Grabovski, JVR. JVR was kind of soft but he turned it up on the PP when needed and would be good on either top 2 lines and would allow the Leafs to take Tavares off the top PP. Kulemin could fill any lines 1-3 with a scoring touch and grit. Grabovski had burners and worked his ass off.

Kulemin would work anywhere.

Also I wouldn't mind Clarke MacArthur either.

I liked Crabb. As a 4th line it would do as they would only get 2 minutes a game :biglaugh:

Keep in mind guys like jvr/bozak/komo/Kadri don't really fit what I'm looking for since they played with us in the AM34 era

Also keep caphits in mind. Kessel for example got 6M and then 8M but we'd have to consider how much that works out to under a 82.5M cap

I was looking at the below guys as potential decent fits for our team and they'd be more affordable then the top guys like Kessel, Phaneuf, lupul

Macarthur
Versteeg

Any other names/players that could be positive fits on hypothetically on our current team?

Everything we have been lacking for years now.
 
My non-all star pick would be Pavel Kubina. Wasn't the best fit when he came here in 2006-07, but a 6'4" RHD cup winning defenseman with a booming shot, big wingspan, good two way ability and quite a bit of nastiness would be a perfect compliment on the blueline in 2022-23.

Can you imagine if Dougie and Wendel had all the advancements in training, diet and equipment that these guys have today, but still grew up in the same environment that developed and encourage their desire, toughness and ability…..

We seem to have wandered pretty far off the original requirement of "keep caphits in mind", unless we think Dougie and Wendel will sign for $750K each. :sarcasm:
 
I wouldn't take Potvin or Cuju to be in net tbh.

They were good goalies for their era but they had really unorthodox styles that wouldn't fly in the modern game. I think Belfour who played a much more technically proficient game was far better than either of them and fit into the modern game better.

We really just need to bolster our Defense so maybe like bring back belfour/Joseph, kaberle McCabe duo and some bottom 6 forwards so roberts, tucker, grabovski and maccarthur. Gives us a good 3rd line. Then bring kessel back just cause.

I can't even imagine it tbh and I'm not sure I'd even want it. Gilmour was just everything you'd want in a player IMO so it's hard to say I'd want to change a thing.

Example - Maybe all the intense training and/or proper dieting would hinder a love for the game he naturally possessed?

I'm not sure. I just know that the reason why I love the game and more specifically the Leafs is because of the man so I'd be hard pressed to change a thing about it.

The more i think about.. the more i think tucker would be absolutely dynamic in todays game. Everything is so vanilla and with everything being more vanilla it has become more open for rats .. cheap shit, stick work and fake tough guy lip service

Could you imagine him now.. skates ok enough to keep up and will go f***en berserk and monkey pounce any of these littles shits nowadays

Of all the most useless individuals ever to put on the hallowed jersey, he doesn't deserve mention on this board with guys who actually played and gave their all.
I hope the real story of this guy comes out one day.
If we had a list of shameful players and employees of TML he would be right below Puck Ballard who regularly peed on everything. 🤣
