Desharnais will have his own award name in QMJHL. The QMJHL Selke Trophy changed its name. It's the David Desharnais Trophy.

IIRC Roy did not have the appendix removed immediately but went through some treatments

Didn't Patrick Roy once have an appendicitis in the playoffs and come back a couple of days later? That guy was a beast.

Just f***ing brutal. Losing our #1 Dman in the first days of camp after the last few years.

He'll come back and have to ease himself into normal abdominal movements, be cautious about reaggrivating etc etc
Better first day of camp than in 2 weeks. This surgery is no big deal, he will be back easily

690 saying today Guhle had appendix surgery. To be re-evaluated in 7 days.
Nice we have 7 NHL D plus Mailloux, Reinbacher and Engstrom in Laval.

I could see Hughes picking up a dman on waivers at some point just before the start of the regular season when teams are making their cuts, like he did last year with Kovacevic, if Mailloux, Reinbacher, and Engstrom are all deemed to need more time in Laval.

Yup Canadiens just made it official
I just noticed that. Lol Sorry

690 was talking about starting season with 8 D.

Exactly what I said a couple weeks ago

It all depends on what they think is best for the development of Mailloux, Reinbacher, and Engstrom.

If Hutson and Mailloux are ready, maybe they start 8D. But Hughes said in a recent interview, we can always send dmen that are waiver exempt to Laval if need be. And he said he wants the young D to get good playing time.

If we were in the playoffs Guhle would be back for sure. I think Patrick missed one game.

And Patrick was freaking Patrick on his return too. Looked like he wasn’t recently released from a hospital that game.

Roy didn't have surgery until after though, which is what actually prevents you from playing.

As others have mentioned, you are given very light duties after an abdominal surgery because it's possible to reinjure.

Yeah, that’s right! Forgot that detail. Gimme a break, I was 15 at the time. ;)

Cool interview by PeeKay on la Poche Bleue. He had a few stories about Markov and Price.

He spoke a bit about how the trade went down. He was saying we should have acquired Cam Ward when Price got injured in 2015 to give them a chance to go in the playoffs. Subban, Price and Pacioretty had a lot of pressure from management to carry the team but never got any help.

He was asked if he had any opportunities to comeback to Montreal towards the end of his career. He was candid and admitted that no GM around the league offered him a contract and that kinda forced him into retirement.

Jacob Olofsson who never has been able to match his career high of 21 pts in Allsvenskan from his draft year, has gotten off to a crazy start to the season with 8 pts in 8 gms, he had 15 all of last year.

also saw Brett Stapley is off to a good start in the Slovak league and former Hab Sami Niku has joined Daniel Audette on Reinbacher's team from last year.

Alright folks. I was on this board a few weeks back talking about the project we've got going on over in the History of Hockey section, where we're trying to rank the top goaltenders of all time. I was hoping for some input on the careers of Patrick Roy and Ken Dryden, two Habs legends. They were both voted onto our list quite quickly.

I'm back again - this time, Carey Price is up for discussion! As somebody whose talent and reputation exceeds his trophy case and resume, I'm really hoping to get some insight from fans who watched him night in and night out, who can help explain why many of us are big supporters of his.

If anyone's interested in adding to the discussion, or if you just want to follow along, here's the link to the discussion thread. You'll see he's up against guys who played many moons ago, but also against contemporaries Roberto Luongo and Andrei Vasilevskiy. Easy to compare him against those two, right? We've love it if somebody could help build the case! Thanks!

Habs draft pick Oskari Korpikari, built like a brick house is nowadays a physio in the Finnish national junior teams.

Just saw his name in an article and remembered how angry I was when Montréal didn't sign him. Guy was built for NA hockey.
