i wouldn't say wasted. he was one of the key players on those 2010s ducks teams that made a few deep runs. once he was forced to play heavy minutes on rebuilding teams with an inexperienced d-corps, he (predictably) struggled. now he's playing on a winning team with vets like leddy and parayko and not having to as much on his own like he was in his last few seasons hereWe really wasted Fowler
I disagree on the speed.
It's great seeing Fowler play well, especially after so much crap was posted about him on here. Just a great defenceman.
I know playing with Parayko obviously helps let him be free to join rush more, but one big thing I noticed is how stl plays a zone heavy d scheme. They rarely chase any where beyond the top of the circles and they clog up home base and when they counter, they are 4 guys all up ice in unison. Such a dramatic diff to CroMagnon bullshit![]()
Former Duck Helps Blues Force Game 7
For some, there isn't a better pair of words in sports than "Game 7". For St. Louis Blues fans, they might say a better pair of words is "Cam Fowler".thehockeynews.com
"(Fowler is) incredibly cerebral," Blues head coach Jim Montgomery said to reporters after the game. "When you try and change things that you do, he goes out and implements them right away. That's how intelligent he is, and it's really underrated how competitive he is. (You don't) know that when you coach against him, but once you get him in your own locker room and you get to see the eyes and you see the intensity in his eyes, you couple that with the calmness and poise to make the plays he makes at both ends of the ice. It's pretty impressive."
That's some high praise.
Use a player in the right manner, in a system that matches your personnel, and don’t tell him you don’t want him, and don’t tell him you’re taking his minutes away for kids who do nothing with them, and he plays to his potential.![]()

I don’t remember that ever happening in Anaheim.Use a player in the right manner, in a system that matches your personnel, and don’t tell him you don’t want him, and don’t tell him you’re taking his minutes away for kids who do nothing with them, and he plays to his potential.

This year, on the power play?I don’t remember that ever happening in Anaheim.
It was actually the opposite where they completely overplayed him
