Don't intend to turn this into a Nashville chat, but why aren't they playing Forsberg at center? I thought he played that position most of his career.

No... he's always been a winger, I've remembered it clearly since we passed on him in 2012 for Koekkoek.

What a whiff that pick was btw. Everyone around here wanted Forsberg and rightfully so (not just in retrospect). Nah let’s pick the guy with tons of injuries and not the consensus BPA.

It was the first of 2 times I tossed my shirt across the room. The 2nd was when we had the great idea of absolutely no one covering Cooper Kupp after one of the better comebacks you'd see even by Brady's standards

I couldn't believe Forsberg fell to us and we just did nothing about it

Grigorenko has been exiled to the annals of history but he was considered #2/#3 at the time and had also fallen. Goes to show you in hindsight guys falling sometimes have a good reason to. I was more upset with the Drouin over Jones pick, since Jones was considered a lock for #1 most of the year, we needed RD help for Hedman with no one else in the system, and we still had St.Louis feeding Stamkos pucks at the time.

Still, Koekkoek was coming off of major shoulder surgery, and it was just glossed over. They did the same thing in 2010 with Connolly who was coming off of wrist surgery.

Koekkoek actually had some great junior years, logged a ton of minutes, but that shoulder surgery really threw off his development and lingered with him.

I was all but on my knees praying for Drouin. Jones didn't impress me. Drouin on the other hand felt like he had the kind of vision and hands that made him heir to Marty St. Louis. Jones felt like a poor man's Karlsson. What we are doing with Geekie is what we should have done with him. Instead we chained his ass to the bench because he couldn't shut down an entire game like he was Ondrej Palat in spite of never being asked to be defensively responsible his entire life. The only other guy I would have said "drop everything" for was Adam Larsson. He was a substance prospect versus flash in Jones. Funny enough Drouin felt like both to me

Yeah Drouin was the heir to a 38 year old MSL and was absolutely dominant in juniors. Koekkoek was just a straight flop pick, Forsberg was by far the BPA.

I have just found out that Mitchell Stephens still exists, as he seems to be playing hockey in Seattle.

I think we need to let go of Stamkos. He wasn't very good towards the end here even with great numbers but he's being exposed even worse on that Preds team. As painful as it was, it was the right decision to let him walk.

Could see Johnson there next year too if the season continues like it has for him. Still have no idea why he put all his eggs in the Bruins basket, I have a hard time believing no other team offered him anything.

I'll defend Serge as far as that player was hauling ass to the bench like his life depended on it and should have been there for the pass

Blind no look passes into the middle of the ice from the point position are something that you shouldn't do even with a very high degree of certainty, but then to misread the very obvious context happening directly in front of him is just baffling.

He might have thought Kesselring was skating back to center point. But no matter. He did the same thing here night after night and it's clear he hasn't learned yet

This seems to be turning into the bash former players thread. Serge is playing 26 min a night on a worse team and has 20 points in 28 games, currently 6th on his team in plus/minus (+5), so it's not like plays like this are happening every night. He's definitely taken strides forward from his last year here.

No different than GDTs or player discussions tbh. Lol.
