So McLeod got charged with 2 counts of sexual assault, doesn't really seem like they are saying anything else

so sad... these guys deserve the law.... poor gal

I will hold off on making any bold statements until I know more details but alot of lives have been forever altered for the worse due to this incident and as a father of two sons and a daughter I feel the pain for all involved. Hopefully the truth prevails and justice is served in a timely fashion so that all involved can move forward and come to terms with the events that unfolded that night so that they can map a pathway to healing.

Gotta say the police chief blaming video games and TV... I don't think this investigation is in good hands. He'll look for any opportunity to believe those men weren't capable of perpetrating the act.

Video games and TV have never been the catalyst for disgusting, deviant behavior.. it's been the constant excuses, the victim blaming, the locker room culture and the 'boys will be boys', touchable athletes that has been allowed to persist for decades.

Old school dinosaurs like this particular chief are part of the problem as they are apologists for perpetrators due to their adherence to the same "values" that embolden and harbour racists, misogynists and bigotry in all of it's vile forms. They have no problem gathering with all of these types every Sunday but salivate at the opportunity to attack all that is new and abstract as demonic forces that must be cleansed by the "purity" of their archaic and divisive "values".

Sorry If I keep hammering on the same nail, but there will be less need for justice when a culture change helps prevent these behaviors.

There were times when kid-beating and drunk-driving were tolerated behaviours. Not anymore.

We can change and we need to.

I never understood that locker room or frat boy mentality. Why people participate in that crap is beyond me. Think for yourself damn it! Of course, this situation went well beyond most of that. Hopefully the victim recovers well enough. These guys just screwed themselves out of good careers and probably from having decent relationships.

Here I was thinking they simply updated the rosters every year and asked $60 for it.

EA sports must be stopped. Thank you officer. :sarcasm:

Exact. But peers pressure + alcool = recipe for catastrophies. Teenage boys and young men are ready to do anything to impress girls and friends. They also want to be part of the pack - part of the team fully. That's what coaches since they started playing the game have repeated to them over and over.

Yeah, it's not an "Accused" type situation, as far as I can tell. Beyond whether it was consensual or not, the fact of having a lone female in a room full of teenage jocks is it's own kind of problem. It shows very bad judgment on the part of players. And the threshold for consent increases exponentially.
Where were the f***ing adults supervising this event? If f***ing “Hockey Canada” needs competent chaperones? I’ll gladly volunteer. Unbelievable!

What a sad situation.

my thoughts exactly.

and it almost feels like there’s a blood lust from the media for all the gory details and a rush to judgment?

I believe all of the accused plead not guilty? So this will get uglier than it already is……correct me if I’m wrong but did Hockey Canada already payout 3.2 million in hush money to the victim ? If so, that’s as close to an admission of guilt you can get?

I strongly support that all parties deserve the right to be presumed innocent until their day in court whatever the charge…….the media need to put away the pitch forks & tiki torch’s.

They were probably asleep; also, everyone in that room, as far as I know, was an adult.

Calgary, Philadelphia and New Jersey are getting cap relief for the 4 players involved. Why? Unless there is something that covers this in the CBA they shouldn't be getting anything. Is there cap relief for teams with players in the Player Assistance Program?
