They do at Indians games. They play hang on sloopy and do the Ohio chant. They also have the Ohio letters they give to fans and show them on the scoreboard.

The Monsters used to acknowledge Ohio State-Michigan rivalry, but haven't lately. They would have done something last night during the game but I don't remember anything being mentioned.

Don't know about Browns or Cavs games, but it wouldn't surprise me. I did just remember when I went to games in the 80-s and 90's, the Browns would have the OSU marching band once a year. Not sure if they still do or not.

Brutus literally threw out the first pitch at the last Guardians game I attended and have definitely heard Hang on Sloopy at Browns games

Just offering my anecdotes

...well, then I'm sure you're all quite thrilled with how today went, then.
Didn’t watch. Point is they are inconsequential to my experience. I’ve lived here 35 years and have never understood the whole mania especially by people who never went there or don’t have any connection to the university. Never understood why folks who DO have a connection expect the whole dang city to give a crap. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I'd be content with indifference. It's the active hostility I can't deal with.

I feel like I'm saying that about a lot of parts of my life lately.

As the poster who started the “I wish they hadn’t done that” stuff in this thread, I don’t know what to say here. I don’t begrudge anyone the seriousness of their fandom or affinity, I just wish there were places in my life that it didn’t permeate. Someone’s going to tell me “you live in Columbus” dumbass but that misses the point. That said, for me personally, the annoyance comes from my indifference.

As for the other stuff, based on pure assumptions, I can’t express my allyship enough.

I recall earlier this year when the CBJ were brought onto field during a break of a OSU football game for some advertisement for the outdoor game, a small CBJ chant broke out among some of the OSU fans. Perhaps I should go look at the OSU FB reddit to see if anyone was upset about it.

IMO during a break while “honoring” local players to an extent, is one thing. While during play with a totally unrelated team playing is another.

Anyway, not trying to smite anyone for being an OSU fan by my comments, especially not today lol. My issue is specifically with the chant happening in a certain scenario, nothing more than that. But the chili chant gets more disdain.

Yeah not the same but it doesn’t really even matter.

O-H-I-O in all the non-university, non-athletics spaces in which I’ve encountered it - indoor and outdoor shopping spaces, airports and on planes, public parks, concerts, parking lots, foreign countries - will always be annoying to me. But I’ve acknowledged that it’s “my cross to bear” so to speak, that it is what it is. The only reason we’re still talking about it is because people are in here telling me and others who share that same annoyance that we shouldn’t feel that way.

It’s a free country. You can feel however way you want. As can I. Wasn’t trying to direct you how to feel.

I don't care what people chant but I'm with you on this. I've always found it weird that people cheer for schools they didn't go to, but I know I'm in the minority on that.

I like the chili chant. I have an OSU degree, so does my wife, and so does my brother. So I don’t mind the OSU chants. I think it is funny that half our team is from Michigan. At least people aren’t yelling “Ann Arbor was a whore” at CBJ games.
