It's really hard to watch this garbage week in/week out, which is why I only follow in passing these days. These blatant missed/blown calls in every game around the league are hard to ignore when the stink of gambling ads are surrounding every broadcast.
If you're not one of the "chosen teams" you're gonna get boned every week. Hate this league.

One that is clear as day is the better the QB, the softer the calls if you hit him. If a guy is an established star QB, you can’t go near him.

They’ll let Zach Wilson get rag dolled around the field but touch Hurts or Mahomes and it’s 15.

I definitely understand the wisdom of taking the FG and running off time. But for me, if I'm Saleh, I'm 100% confident those guys are not going to score a TD on my defense the way it has been playing.

A field goal? A field goal to win, that's one of those things where one sloppy missed tackle nets an extra 15 YAC, or one terrible pass interference call or something goes against you, and suddenly Philly is sitting on a 56 yard kick to win.

I'm more comfortable in betting that we don't allow a TD than a FG, even if the FG scenario is with a minute and no time outs. Too much crazy shit in the latter scenario for me, and in this NFL, it almost feels like that scenario is a sure win for the offense given how good the two minute offenses are for most teams and how good kickers are.

Anyway, it is what it is. I was fine with the call at the time and it worked out.
Exactly. How comfortable were you last week with a 3 point lead before Russ WIlson's fumble at the end?

Given how much the NFL relies on gambling money, I’m surprised that they tolerate so much “game management” by the officials.

That's certainly another way to look at it. Regardless, this sport has been drifting toward MLB & NBA level of unwatchable. I'm hanging on by a string, but I'm at the point where I don't care if I miss the game or not.

Good for you. I'm a sucker. I watch every game I can, I pay for redzone, gamble on games, you name it football wise I'm doing it.

Yet I still watch the games and I'm either disgusted in how bad some teams are or how bad/biased the refs are. The changes in defensive penalties over the last few years have gotten to borderline ridiculous. Everything is an automatic first down and with the current game, you could probably call a penalty on every snap.

The league is gonna have to move to a satellite ref for every game and/or challenges for penalties. The Giants game last night. Why was the first penalty PI but then on the free play Waller is being held and nothing gets called? You see this every game almost. Is it because of all the gambling sponsors or are the refs just that bad?

The Fantasy Footballers called out the refs today on their podcast. They have HUGE sponsors for what they do, some of which are also NFL sponsors. More people like them start making noise and we might see some change. And not "brotherly shove" change, actual not game-changing change.

The Giants are bad but they're not nearly as bad as they looked the first 5 games. They're a lot closer to the Jets than most Jets fans want to admit. The Giants' D is rounding into form. The Jets are better at both O and D than the Giants but not even close to significantly enough to hear the utter arrogance from Jets fans. This game will almost certainly end up being a low scoring close game. Neither offense is good enough for more and both defenses are good enough to not get embarrassed by these bad offenses.

Man your vitriol for Jets fans supersedes even my own. You clearly didn’t like the super bowl predictions after the week 1 win lol

I think it's mostly Brandon Tierney, haha. I listen to WFAN while working to make work more bearable and the guy makes me absolutely sick. But before the season it was everyone. Team finished 7-10 and you'd think that outside of the QB they were a dynasty. I remember Evan Roberts saying he'll watch the Chiefs game weak one and root against the Chiefs because they might be competition to the Jets for #1 in the AFC.

I hate the Eagles more than any team in the league because their fans are the filth of the Earth. Jets fans however are not evil like Eagles fans but probably more delusional and obnoxious.

The Jets fans you know sounds like the Rangers fans all the Devils fans seem to know--not actual people.

All the Jets fans I know and regularly interact with are some of the biggest doom and gloom people around, including yours truly. The team has been garbage for the entire lifetime of the average Jets fan and most of us expect things like Rodgers' exploding Achilles and will never actually believe we're Super Bowl-bound until we're there (which will be never, because Jets). I'm sure there are obnoxious Jets fans out there like there are in any other fan base, but I have a hard time believing that your typical Jets fan is defined by arrogance or delusion, since that just makes no sense whatsoever. That would be like if ten years ago I said Cubs fans were arrogant and delusional, always predicting World Series championships.

Us Jets fans are lots of awful things but IDK about arrogant and delusional!

I guess you don't listen to WFAN. Listen to Brandon Tierney. Some callers too. And before Rodgers got hurt pretty much every host on that station. You guys have a DB call your team the 85 Bears. The Jets are very similar to the Giants last year. Poor yardage stats but good in terms of limiting points, particularly in the second half. The Giants were similar in 2016 and I'd say 2020. It's not an all time great defense there are multiple defenses like that every year. None of them are noteworthy.

Bill B blowing his draft pick and helping the Jets in the standings was the first good thing he’s ever done today.

I don't listen to talk radio, I don't watch ESPN, I don't listen to podcasts, etc. All those guys make money off saying stupid shit that's just meant to piss people off and get them talking.

Back in the day during the summer I'd wake up and turn on SportsCenter and listen to Rich Eisen and Stuart Scott. Their "entertainment" was having Kenny Mayne do something goofy. Otherwise it was just sports. And that's basically all it was. If you wanted edgy or exciting you'd tune into ESPN2 ("The Deuce!") and watch motocross or skateboarding or whatever.

Kornheiser and Wilbon with Around The Horn, which is super tame by modern standards, was around the beginning of the end of ESPN for me. I actually liked that show but those two were just goofing around. When you got to Skip Bayless and Steven A Smith, that was it for me. Manufactured outrage, hot [-shit] takes aplenty. I couldn't stand it.

I never listened to Mike and the Mad Dog or anyone else when I lived in NY. I remember thinking they were both assholes and the people that called on were mostly total idiots. And it was apparent that those who were reasonable, didn't get the play of the idiots.

Anyway I know that's all OT, but I hate the talking heads. Same for politics. They make everything worse IMO. Twitter is about the same. On Twitter, every fan base looks like they have one braincell between them.
