A big reason the fans hated that team is that they were set up to compete for awhile and never really got close again. The first season I was watching the Rangers was 2000-2001 only 7 years removed from Cup. It was only the 4th consecutive season they missed the playoffs, so not fun but not Buffalo Bills or Edmonton Oilers territory yet. Definitely not New York Giants territory either. The fans HATED the team. You think fans hate the vets and complain about young kids not getting their chance now, it's not even really close to that 00-01 team.

The Giants won it again.
Out of 32 NFL fanbases, only seven has people our age who can say they've seen the Superbowl twice (PHI, PIT, KC, NE, BAL, TB, NYG) and that number falls to five if you consider that they would have been little kids the first time the Bucs and Ravens did it.
There are Lions fans in their 70's that have never seen their team compete in the final game of the season.
That's a you problem.Well I was 16 for the Bucs, lol. Not a little kid. I don't know what to tell you, I don't get any pleasure over the titles when my team has been a bottom 5 if not bottom 3 franchise for over a decade. This isn't the Eagles of the early 00s or the Ravens currently, not even the Lundqvist Rangers. Giants fans have had nothing to root for for a dozen years.
That's a you problem.
To be mad about the direction of the team currently is one thing. To get nothing out of that tells me you really shouldn't be doing this.
What do you ever have to root for if two championships means nothing to you?
Cowboys fans are the butt of jokes because other fanbases had to watch them win three times.Ok, let me put it this way. Those titles currently in 2025 do not outweigh the garbage from this franchise currently. Do they literally mean nothing? No. But how do they help in 2025? Put a smile on my face if I think about them? Ok. But beyond that what can titles from 13 years and 17 years ago do? Cowboys fans are the butt of jokes for still talking about 92-95. Yeah you can reminisce but at some point if you're a bottom dweller for 13 years how much does that do for you?

An empty barrel makes the most noise.
Yes. And there's nothing random about it.The thing is you have a random cut off. One title is no big deal but two is important. You seem to not care about the 94 cup.
I guess not too many people agreeI do like the on screen graphics. Nice and clean for once.
Yes. And there's nothing random about it.
You do it once, it's an accident. You do it twice, you saw something 90% of sports fans never will.
If I was a Devils fan, I would get "I won three Cups and you didn't" tattooed on my neck.So before their most recent minor (for now) resurgence you think Devils fans should have been excited about their team being dog shit for a decade because they won 3 cups in the 90s and early 00s?
And you think it would have been some brownie points over a Rangers team that has been consistently in the playoff picture?
I just don't see it that way. If I'm a fan of most teams in the NFL and a Giants fan brags about a 2011 Super Bowl I would laugh in his face. Your team is dog shit now.

You know what nobody cares about? Being consistently in the picture when you don't win.
If you win one and never come back it is kinda like LarryDavidEh.gif.Man I'd kill to have memory of one of my teams winning a championship.

Once you win the second one it's like "I beat this sport and the credits rolled, now we're just improving on my high score."
That's how I feel with the Giants. I feel bad for Giants fans born after 2000 or so and it very much annoys me that the Eagles are good now, but like, I don't know man, I beat football.

Life of a Minnesota Vikings fan.
Gotta be the most successful NA sports franchise to never win a championship.
This thread was a surprisingly good morning read which I never thought I'd say as a Giants fan.
Giants delivered the rings but a lot of bad football, a lot of seasons I barely watched after Halloween. The Rangers delivered a solid 15-20 years of very good competitive hockey but no rings.
I'd take the rings, but it's not as big of a slam dunk as one might think...I get @SnowblindNYR perspective. Maybe the bigger takeaway is to be more appreciative of what each franchise has done...rather then dwelling on what they havent.
Looting and fires in Philly after their win. I never get that kind of celebration. Ugh!
