Wherever the keg is!
I'm not sure if I'll get in trouble over this. But the media's narrative that the Giants are a racist organization because they didn't draft Dwayne Haskins (and never had a black QB start other than Geno for one game) was a disgrace. RIP, but Haskins was worse than Jones. And this narrative has been carried for years where players around the league f***ing hated Jones. The amount of animosity and venom spewed his way I've never seen in any player by other players in the NFL. Far worse players didn't get the treatment Jones got. He sucked but every other game opponents taking potshots at him was a disgrace. And it started with the narrative of him being picked because he was white, which was a dumb f***ing narrative to begin with.

While the racism aspect wasn't thrown around, Eli received A LOT of flack. Tiki and Warner also threw him under the bus. For a while, the media just called him "Peyton's younger brother."

No team is giving up even a 7th round pick for Jones............
Well so much for my theory. But still I don't think he is incompetent like a Zach Wilson. He's not a starting calliber QB but even Tim Boyle just got signed... Oh wait that was the Giants.

It's moronic - Giants had a Black GM for like 10 years.

Giants are going to take a big cap hit but they might be able to move DJ for a mid to late round pick in the offseason. He is still an NFL calliber player unlike Zach.
Past the NFL trade deadline. I believe if there was a trade, that Jones would not be eligible to be on the PO roster. But, NYG would have had to retain as Jones was due like $2 mill per week. No team taking on that much cap hit for him for the final 7 weeks of the season.

His release, he can sign for the vet minimum or just take the time off to figure out his future. He's made $108 mill in 6 years. Need to be a pro bowl level player at other positions to ever make that kind of money in a career.

Smart of Giants to just move on. Very small chance he gets hurt in a practice and then you're on the hook for another $23 mill of injury guarantee for 2025. Just eat the $22 mill in dead cap and move on.

The contract makes a trade (or a waiver claim) illogical but once he clears waivers he will be picked up somewhere either now or in the offseason.

Add to the fact that they had one QB for 15 years who happened to be white and played every game and there very few opportunities to start a black QB. If the Giants passed on Caleb Williams, I'd get it. Dwayne Haskins was never that impressive of a prospect. He was taken like 15th in a league where Mitch Trubisky went like #2 overall.

Unlike Geno and Darnold, Jones has had a good Offensive coach in Daboll. And if he can't perform as well in years 2 and 3 as he did in year 1, I don't think he will bounce back like those 2 did.
Would expect Jones to be signed as a backup for 2025. It's a legit possibility for a team looking to play the comp pick game, to sign him cheap for the rest of 2024 and when he becomes a free agent, he factors into the comp pick formula for them. Probably at best would be a 5th - 7th round comp pick.
Or Jones could simply take the time off rather than spend 7 plus weeks learning a new playbook.

I'm wondering why the Giants took a full bye week before announcing the demotion. I'm also wondering why DJ himself went to ask Mara (the owner) for his release when his agent had spoken with Joe Schoen (the GM) days before and no action was taken. Some people have spoken about a game against the Cowboys that is only 6 days away. It was also alleged in one newspaper that maybe DJ and Mara have a agreement that DJ would not go to a rival. Some interesting theories. I have not heard anything from Joe Schoen which is a bit unusual as well. Just from the owner and coach. Okay taking my tinfoil hat off now. I like Joe Schoen so I'm not trying to disparage him.

17 games at one a week honestly has always made it palatable for me even at its worst lol.

Watching a bad hockey team in January or a bad baseball team in August is so much worse IMO.
None of them are great options. Baseball pushed me away completely with what that sport turned into, however I've lost interest in the NFL for two distinct reasons...one, the awful biased officiating. 2nd, the Giants have literally sucked for over a decade. Without a team to root for, I can't seem to get myself to watch.
