Lacking Trouba and Miller really showed with Fox and Lindgren having to handle so many minutes and the other pairings struggling to break the puck out regularly. Breakouts were far worse tonight than they normally are

pretty crap game but hey

Can't complain about a win that likely should have been a 2-0 shutout. Rangers again get zero puck luck - Panarin hits the post twice and the Flyers score both of their goals on absolute garbage pinball plays.

All of that said, the Flyers were very undermanned and unlike the Devils, they looked like it. That team did not have it tonight, and it still took every drop of blood to pull out a victory. Very frustrating to say the least.

And please, for the love of Pete, get JJ the f*** out of there as soon as Miller is ready to return. Hajek still has Bambi legs but he's a kid that's improving. JJ is so obviously done, it's painful.

Mika is clearly still affected by Covid. One of the long term symptoms is brain fog. I think that is what is going on, he can't process the game anymore.

Management did a really good job in shoring up the bottom six in the off season. I am pretty impressed by Blackwell, Rooney and even Bitetto. I had really low expectations so that might be part of it. PDG's game has slipped a bit over the last few games.

Laf needs to play in the OT. No question about it.

Libor is starting to look like he might be an NHL player.

Panarin Mika Buch
Laf Strome Kakko

If Mika can't get it together he needs to be on the third line.

I fully agree on Mika. I heard that his gf went on a podcast saying they were both heavily affected by covid. She is a former pro athlete and still have difficulties breathing while going for a run.

We can only hope that covid haven't done any permanent damage to Mikas lungs and body. Hopefully he can recover fast.

Hard to believe that some people refuse to put 2 and 2 together and draw a logical conclusion. Seems like a few poster are either dense or write their posts in total affect.

do you expect the scoring to change if Quinn keeps throwing the same people out there? Mika is still one of the 'main' guys being setup. Flubbing nearly everything.

PLEASE, STOP putting the same players in the same situations and expecting different results. For all the talk I hear about 'growth' and 'helping the kids', Quinn rides his veteran forwards and never holds them accountable... almost as if this is a contending team trying to make it before their window closes.

On merit,
I'd rather see Rooney over Zibanejad right now.
I'd rather see Blackwell over Strome.
I'd rather see Kakko over Kreider.

Zibanejad has not been a NHL player all season... How about we let him 'figure it out' with Lemieux and PDG? or in the pressbox? It doesn't matter who replaces him, he's been that bad.
Some players are 'snake bit'
The shot% is not bad luck. It's a mixture of bad coaching, unresponsive vets and kids that are pressing. Our system changed, we lost our best scoring defenseman and our PP setup is ass.

I would not care if we were losing if the players who deserved to play, played. This is not really an issue on defense, I'm assuming Martin is in control of that.

Our system sucks. The chip-bang-dump and lose possession is antiquated hockey.
____

Hajek belongs.

Panarin looked strong and engaged.

I honestly want Rooney and Blackwell to center the top6.

But this isn't an act of God, the Boston game he was robbed a couple of times, I'll give him that. But otherwise even when he's getting chances he's not converting because he's in his own head right now. He's a head case.

What makes you jump to that conclusion when there are other more logical conclusions to make?

He definitely seems the type that when everything is going, he’s at he’s best and super confident. But working himself out of struggles seems to be tough for him.

This is really bad this season. He can barely accept a pass, keeps misplaying the puck, looks sluggish. He’s like 2013 lockout season Brad Richards but somehow worse.

He shouldn’t even have been out there though. He looked like shit all game, why have him out there when Buch, Kakko, Laf, Strome are all on the bench? Panarin can by that RH trigger man, you don’t need Zib out there. Prob want Kakko or Buch or Laf on the right side.

His poor play is honestly one of the top reasons for our team struggling. Not only is his lack of production killing us, but it also kills our PP, neutralizes Kreider, diminishes our matchup center, trickles down and affects quality of play our other lines face.

He is the biggest reason this team is struggling AINEC. If he was just average this team would have 2-3 more wins IMO. The fact that he has been God awful is killing this team. This team can't afford their 1C to be playing this way.

I’m afraid of what Chytil looks like after a bout with Covid too. He’s still in protocol

by the way Hajek looks very good. Solid steady bottom pair guy right now that maybe is a number 4 guy in a couple years. He had a very good game. He’s also not getting murdered every shift either

Panarin Blackwell Kakko
Laffy Rooney Buchnevich
Kreider Strome Howden
Lemieux Zibs PDG/Gauthier

PP1 - Fox, Miller. Panarin, Blackwell, Kakko

Earn your time.

The only thing is POSSIBLY Covid having after effects. I don't know if it's less logical or not, but he's shown to be a moody player. Every time he'd come back from injury he was a shell of his former self except last year.

. I thought he was just on the protocol list like Kakko was but I guess if he has been in protocol for a bit it might suggest he had covid???
The NHL isn't identifying positive covid players?

I don't get the praise for Hajek tbh

I handle the puck better. Get his agent on the phone, I'll take him right now.

Well I don't think falling down and dropping the stick would be cured by a sports psychologist. More likely that he just needs more oxygen pumped in the brain.

Personally..I have to give Zbad some credit tonight.

He was looking to put some heat on the PP with those one timers on the half boards.

DQ needs to stop being a moron and keep him there..

The biggest issue I’m having with the COVID excuse for Zibby is this isn’t some rare occurrence across the league (or other leagues). A significant number of teams with dozens of players have tested + and yet I don’t recall hearing many (any?) other stories of players looking anywhere close to as lethargic as Zibby. Yes, I know, it effects everyone differently. I just would have an easier time believing that is the case if we could point to a few other examples. We have a very large sample size to analyze here, so there should be other examples to point to.
