In contrast to those who will defend the slug no matter how much he gunks up the works. This board is littered with that type of biased poster as well.

As for roster spots, Dorsett and Carcillo have a different role than BB (and play a different position) so your premise is silly and overly defensive. Putting alot of words in a lot of people's mouths; cut that out.

I don't have to put words in your mouth. Any time you see anyone talk in a positive light about Boyle you have a conniption.

Thought I saw Carcillo wearing a visor in the first period but not after.

Good goal disallowed was called by the ref "white touched the puck" but the replay so clearly showed that was bs, so Pierre coveted for the ref by saying "intent to blow" and Doc went along.

17 shots against in the first and 38 for the game showed the Rangers outclassed the philth in every way.

Loved John Moore right cross tozs

Oops...guess the thought was clear...

Getting tough watching Stepan out there and Im wondering if D Moore would be better for Nash and Kreider. Youd think Step would be more alive with Sochi on the horizon. Sure seems to have helped Nash...

That appears to be correct...funny I don't remember him ever wearing a visor...maybe he was having equipment problems in the first? They both look like the same type of helmut...ccm.

Stepan was directly responsible for the turnover that led to Nash's goal...he's doing good stuff out there, the harping on him is a bit silly. He IS playing below his ability I think but seems like people are ignoring a lot of the good things he's doing just so they can rag on him.

He got in on the forecheck and tied up the Philly defenseman who was trying to play the puck, allowing Kreider to swoop in and grab the loose puck and feed Nash. That goal doesn't happen without a really good play by Stepan.

He's going through one of those "being productive without producing" phases that players often do. He's doing good things, playing fairly well, but it's not translating into points.

He still has room to improve, but his performance has been okay. IMO anyway.

Our centers have balanced production nicely. If Brassard and Richards are gone next year, Stepan will be asked to do much, much more.

I still think Richards has been a big part of the PP and needs some manner of replacement in that point spot next year.

Thats a very fair/objective statement on Stepan this year. he is still doing the other things like PK and creating turnovers BUT he was suppose to also be a guy who was a playmaker and would get the puck to nash and kreider in good places. I think stepan has been very good defensively but he has struggles offensivelly hopefully the olympics will get him going

Bishop is 4-0. Allowed 3 goals in 100 shots against the Rangers in his career.
I have a feeling that the Rangers are gonna handle Bishop fine. I understand he has a good record against us BUT the Rangers are playing their best hockey right now

Stepan makes up for a slump in playmaking by being a very solid all around player.

I want to see him start being more confident when initiating plays, but he hasn't been that bad by any stretch.

Not true. Anytime I see someone try to create propoganda by stating as fact that he is tough or skilled or due for a promotion to the 3rd line I respond so that both sides are heard.

He has had many poor outings this year and I do not (except in limited situations) point that out. How many times did you see me harp on his lack of goal scoring? You didn't because I didn't. He has a place, and as long as we discuss him in that light I am comfortable. if we venture out of that I comment. So what? I have a clear position on this player. For the record I thought he did his job last night although he blew up a couple of offensive chances for his line, but that's fine.

Stepan does the other things well like the PK and his defense has been valuable. However if he is gonna play with two of our bestter scorers then he has to better setting them up. He hasnt been terrible but he is just having a down year offensively. I also think his bad skating ability is hurting him during his struggles

Stepan is pretty much the player he was before last season... solid defensively and he'll make some smart plays, but inconsistent offensively. He doesn't have the same confidence he had last year and is no longer dictating play. He's closer to a second line center than a first line center at this point.

It's a confidence thing - I wish he could get one or two gimme goals to get going. It was painful to watch him missing way wide of the open net on his PP shot from below left circle even after settling a puck (hesitating). Last season he would've just ripped a one-timer without a second thought.

Not to mention he's been playing very well in the neutral and defensive zones. It's not like he's been completely useless. He has been playing much better lately, probably gripping the stick too tightly what with all his whiffs and shanks.

See, here's the thing a lot of us were wondering about with him though. He wasn't exactly consistent offensively last season either. He was great for about 3/4 of the season, but that doesn't even represent half of a normal regular season. He was awful in the first 1/4 and the playoffs. I think he was probably just as inconsistent last year, but we didn't really get to see it because the year was shorter.

He does a lot of things great, but I think the offensive inconsistency, which is the hallmark of 2nd line players, is probably going to continue with him.

I disagree. I think Stepan's offensive highs have been high enough, and his lows have still been buttressed by strong play elsewhere, that at 23 years old he can still be a 1st line center in the Patrice Bergeron mold.

I think Stepan is much better than what he is playing at.

I'm not quite sure if I would say he can reach Bergeron's level (at 21/22 years of age he had back to back 70 point seasons).

I think Stepan is the ideal 2nd line center on a deep team. Someone who can play strong defense, and put up 60 points.

I still think we need a true game breaking 1st line center.

That said, I think Stepan has been brutal this year. If he was playing at the level he had last year, we could be a much better team. But you can say the same thing about Richards, Nash, Callahan, Girardi, and Lundqvist who are all missing expectations this year.

So much this

"Brian Boyle has been playing very well" -anyone
"This is laughable because D Moore has been just as good or better because I have eyes" -Bardof

I'm still fired up from this one. Still buzzing. On that last second scrum i swear I was ready to jump in. I woulda got my ass thoroughly kicked but dammit I was ready to try

He was wearing a visor in the other games he played ... I remember saying that he never use to wear one

Eh, he was bad to start the season. But starting with like the Tampa game he was incredibly consistent until the playoffs. Like Zuccarello consistent. I looked at his game logs and he had like 2 stretches of 2 scoreless games since the rough start. Then he turned Stepan in the playoffs. That's my biggest fear with this team, too many players that aren't that great in the playoffs. Though we have to get there first.
