I think we should hire him as associate coach...you know...just in case Muller doesn't work out.

Retreads and all...

I watched the whole game and it was a good game to watch. Khudo did awesome and our puck possession was pretty good the whole game. Solid win in our new division.

For the record, I didn't even know we signed Dvorak until he score against the Wings. And then I forgot we had him again, until he scored against the Flyers. How long will he keep this up?

Hopefully for a while.

On both goals, Dvorak was simply hustling to get to the right place at the right time. The kind of "lucky" goals that a veteran will pick up from time to time because he is fundamentally sound in where he chooses to expend his energy.

Carolina should just send Lindholm back to Brynäs, hes not evolving his offensive game playing 7mins a night, and the fact that hes playing on the 3/4th line in one of the worst teams in the NHL dont help his confidence either. An AHLer like Rask could "grind" those minutes instead
Easy there, simple Jack

Maybe if the girly, no hitting SHL :)sarcasm: ?) prepared Lindholm better for contact, he would be playing more of offensive role rather than clutching his wrist any time an opposing NHLer breathes on it.

Brynas sucks anyway, he'd be better off in the AHL playing with a team that doesn't suck like Brynas and not in some 7th tier league that only plays 12 games a season.

If he spent a year building up a little strength, or even just was a year more developed he'd be better off. No one doubts the skill or vision. It's the fact he looks like he's built like 15 year old girl and seemingly gets hurt easily. For obvious reasons.

Getting clubbed in the ahl isn't necessarily better.

whaat? Yeah, it really hurt Bäckströms evolvement to stay an extra year. And Forsbergs...and Zetterbergs....and so on

A bit OT, but does anyone know the name of the song they've been playing as they skate out for the third?

So our new favorite blog writer Peckerar has a new one up. Not gonna even bother posting a link for it, but I'll quote the relevant parts of the 'article'

Peckerar said:
Recent acquisition Gerbe, currently leads the team in shots on goal with 9, and has displayed those intangibles that make coaches raise their coffee mug and wink. The most important thing to note about Gerbe is how much he smiles on the bench. This is a big deal that many forget to look at. He’s providing the most important component to successful team chemistry: Gerbe is having fun.

...

With elder statesman Tim Gleason still out with a concussion, it has fallen to Justin Faulk and Jay Harrison to lead the back end.

While Faulk has been getting that big buildup from the Hurricanes’ PR department and Fox Sports, none of it seems to be making its way to the stats sheet. He is making his presence known, and is in no way the shaky player he used to be. However, despite all the accolades, Faulk is still skating at a -2, has zero goals and a pair of assists; and despite leading the team in ice time last night, he is still in the minus.

A player of Faulk’s talents coming up empty on most statistics in a 33-shift game while leading a defense with an “A” on the team’s sweater should not be tolerated.

I could be wrong, but I think he took exception to HOW you wrote what you did vs. what you wrote.

For instance, if you had said, "I think Lindholm might benefit more from playing in Brynas to allow him to gain more strength and develop his game, particularly if Carolina is going to continue to play on the 4th line", the discussion would have been more civil.

But when you come into the Canes forum and say thing like:

"and the fact that hes playing on the 3/4th line in one of the worst teams in the NHL dont help his confidence either" You are bound to get the reaction you did.

Regarding Lindholm, I don't think the Canes plan to leave him on the 4th line as it was stated by the coaching staff that they wanted to give him limited action initially because he missed all of training camp. It the Canes plan on leaving him on the 4th line, I agree with you, send him back to Sweden and let him develop his game and gain strength there.

The 3rd line is a different story though. Lindholm could easily develop his game on the 3rd line as it is constructed now, because the 3rd line also has Jeff Skinner and likely Tuomo Ruutu (when he returns). IMO, this would be a perfect spot for Lindholm if he proves he can handle it. I'm a bit worried that his body cannot handle the rigors of the NHL right now, albeit this is based on a small sample size, so I'll withhold judgement. If after more games, it is determined that he can't, then I also agree he should be sent back. No sense in having him be on/off the injured list.

I understand why you put him on the 4th line considering he didn't get much of a preseason but in the next two games if he isn't seeing 3rd line time with Skinner he should go back overseas. He needs his legs but I think you play people in the position you envision for them. I think we ruin alot of players asking them to earn it via grinder minutes and they turn out to be grinders. If we want him to be a top line player he needs to play with top line players and build those skills be it here, AHL, or overseas.

While that is essentially saying what I said above, I don't think it has to be in the next 2 games. If the coaches thinks it takes a few more games than that, so be it. Playing a few extra games on the 4th line is not going to make or break his career. But I agree in general, if he's not going to be in the top 9 in the near future, then send him back.

Just curious, who have we ruined by making them "earn their minutes"?
