Nurse is generally ranked in the top 5 worst NHL contracts. Couturier is a better contact.
The add would be coming from Edmonton.

Not a fan of either team. Can't say I agree.
Nurse has been and will likely continue to be the more impactful on-ice contributor for the next few seasons.

His contract is perhaps "worse", but the rising cap will continue to mitigate that and Philly's cap & roster situation can easily manage the 1.5m difference. Flyers roster is better after the trade, imo. If they can get Edm to take Couturier without the pick, good for them.

the cap hit is the entire story with Nurse. An insane number. A crippling contract for a group that is just starting their journey to relevancy.

It isn't really a crippling contract though. $2M overpaid for 4 years isn't that bad, especially when average player contracts are going to rise significantly in that time.

I think the trade they made for Ristolainen was just wildly stupid, but it ended up paying off with how they revitalized Ristolainen’s game.

With how cheap Nurse would be to acquire, I think it makes a ton of sense for Philly to take the gamble. They’re the one team who I think can legitimately say they’ve fixed a defenseman just like Nurse in the past.

Risto was acquired in his 20's and anyone paired with Sanheim will be a better player. He has the value of a physical 4 which always gets overrated in the NHL circles (just ask Ben Chiarot)

Nurse is 31 and 9.25 M and top pairing days are behind him. I guess you can make a case of Couts bad deal for Nurse bad deal but otherwise I don't get the fit. Oilers were asking for Jett L and flyers turned down which had me lol.

At 6m maybe. 6.5 if you push it. But would rather pass if honest.
