GDT: Flyers @ Devils - 7:00 PM - TNT, TRUTV, MAX

What a sample size you have there my friend. If you extend out further to Dec 28 when we lost to the Canes, it's clear we are well on our way to missing the playoffs. Won't be long until we get passed by the Jackets, Senzzz, Rangers, Sabres, Habs, Pens, Flyers, and Isles.
Only DD would possibly suggest the Sabres finish ahead of us lol.

Did they say we were 5-7-3 since Christmas on the broadcast tonight? Which would now be 6-7-3 with the win tonight.

Is it really only that bad? It feels like it’s worse than that. I’m as down on the team as anyone lately, but 6-7-3 doesn’t feel like the worst 16 game stretch.

Gotta wrap up these next two with wins, as the slate of teams we play following the break will be tougher. We currently have the 8th toughest strength of schedule, despite 3 of the 4 teams before the break being non-playoff teams.

It's the 3 that hurts, obviously if it's something like 8-7-1 it doesn't even feel like a down stretch. And they've been losing close games, too.

Separate thought that hfboards grouped together:

Watching the highlights, granted it's the 5th goal but Bratt's pass back to Hughes is a classic 'one passes too many' scenario that works out perfectly. Bratt had an open shot - he could've scored there, though the goalie had most of the net covered - but was never thinking shot, and it resulted in an easy goal.

5 minutes and 45, I think?

At least that's what Darren Pang stated at one point.

It probably felt worse bc some other teams that will remain unnamed went on hot steaks, and the start of the CA road trip was abysmal bc we should have banked points.

Also, we are coming off the pre Christmas sugar high of well played hockey into whatever this has been until we saw the second period of this game.

First gm was the walking zombies, the height of their sickness and fatigue

Monday, they played like poop but they did retaliate immediately on Bastians hit and other hits all night

Tonight is a continuation of Monday

I hope @Devs3cups was able to watch that period. One of the most entertaining of the season
Unfortunately I wasn't able to watch tonight! You got a recap? :devdance:

Fairly abysmal first. Allen kept us alive. To start the second, Dillon leveled Tippet who never came back, and we were all over them. MacDermid played sheriff and we had 5-on4, 4-on-4, 3-on-4 and 4-on-5 hockey for the next 15 minutes and we thrived in all situations. Goals from all the guys we've been waiting on: Palat, Mercer from Meier, Luke on a 2-on-1, Bastian net front on pp. Allen stood on his head at times and Dougie saved the shutout.

Good play all around. Tatar and Dowling had memorable moments, Siegs and Pesce had some nice plays, and Jack and Bratt kinda skated free much of the night.

Got momentarily sloppy to end the second but the third was a mellow lockdown affair with us getting the best of chances.

Just a great game to watch if you're us

Sweet! Thanks for the recap, hopefully they rest up and can build off of this. They've quietly won 3 of their last 4, and have played better hockey overall.

I get what you are saying but....

How do we know Bratt could've scored there with the goaltender having most of the net covered?

For all we know, the Goaltender would've made the save and the 5th goal doesn't happen.

Bratt back to Hughes was not a case of one-pass-too-many.

It was a case of Bratt making the right decision.

Three wins out of their last four makes the record a little better after the 3-6-3 stretch

I was not able to watch last night until the very end of the game, and it probably won't be available on ESPN+. The win was huge and much needed. Hopefully they are getting over the illness that ran through the room and can carry the momentum to the next game.

amazing how they look with depth scoring.

great game especially considering all the injuries. allen came up big when we had to, bottom lines scoring, timo and mercer developing chemistry for a solid 3rd line when haula comes back. overall this is very promising if they can keep it going
