I kind of think this is where this draft gets interesting.

I count around 10 forwards and 4 defensemen left who on paper have decent odds to be solid 2nd liners or #4 defensemen... then there are ~5 goalies who of them? Maybe 3 will be NHLers.

If the Flyers pick between the obvious minefields here and keep the 4 picks? I think they should probably get 2x solid NHLers from them at least. Now, do I trust them to do that? No.

Barry Trotz: Well, it's a shame to miss out on that meaty meaty goalie, but who wants to waste high picks on goalies when you have Juuse Saros?

Mike Grier: Thanks for that Askarov trade Barry!

Barry Trotz: You got it Griers!

Anyway, I don't have another pick in the chamber and it's a nice sunny day out and I was going to swing by the organ donor clinic for some dumpster diving, so let's do this quick. Conjure up a winger who is even taller than our Nashville legend Martin Erat, but maybe some day we can flip this guy for a Filip Forsberg clone.

The Nashville Predators are pleased to select with the 35th pick of the 2025 draft, from Lulea, Right Wing Jakob Ihs-Wozniak.

You are picks 34 and 35, just so we dont get messed up in the order

"We remind Buffalo AGAIN that they are on the clock!" said an exasperated Gary Bettman (who, in truth, sounds like he is exasperated about 70% of the time).

The camera at Sabres Central switches on, which is clearly Kevyn Adams' (unfinished) basement.

(off camera) "Well, do you THINK he's a good pick now? We have to nail these picks to get this franchise out of the ... oh, no, I'm on!!"

Adams appears on screen, his eyes redder than his previous appearance.

"Than ... thanks, Gary. We're ready, I guess, ha ha. With the, uh, 37th pick in this year's draft -- wait, uh, no, it's the 39th pick, right? -- umm, the Buffalo Sabres, uh, pick from Tolpar Ufa of the MHL -- I bet nobody thought the Sabres could get a UFA, ha ha ha uhh -- right-winger Alexander Zharovsky.

"Next is Phlia -- Philadelpia and @scumpup (I wish we were Philadelphia)."

The screen abruptly goes blank.

Kyle Dubas: With the 11th overall selection, the Pittsburgh Penguins select... the most obvious choice, really... me! Kyle Dubas!

*Waits a beat to allow the small, small chance the NHL will accept this selection. They don't.*

Kyle Dubas: Guys, guys, I'm joking..! The Pittsburgh Penguins select... the entire Soo Greyhounds roster!

*No one laughs*

Kyle Dubas: Guys, I'm joookiiing! ...But we will take Brady Martin.

The Islanders summon DJ Khaled to announce their second selection, because all this kid does is win. Our very own Matthew Schaefer even named him as the best player he’s ever played against. Best to have our future franchise defenseman play *with* his top opponent as opposed to against him.

The Islanders select: Jack Ivankovic.

2 - 42) Jack Ivankovic, G, Brampton (OHL)

@uncleben you’re up!

June 28th, 2025
The Peacock Theater, Los Angeles, California

"It's Day 2 for the 2025 edition of the yearly NHL Entry Draft." Morgan Freeman began. "I can't believe I'm here for Day 2. But boy that Disney money does look nice in my bank account. Anyways welcome back lady and gents. We are here today to see the hopes and dreams of young men hopefully be fulfilled on this second day. It doesn't matter if you're chosen in the 1st round or the 7th. As long as you get drafted you have a shot to make it in this league."

*The camera pans to an over head shot of the floor. 32 tables. 32 groups of hockey guys, some of whom are dinosaurs or some of whom are nerds. Slowly the camera zooms in on the newly announced Utah Abominables franchise. The microphone picks up the conversation*

"...and then we can sell these suckers an exclusive Abominables jersey with six pack abs stitched into the jersey on the front. We give these customers the chance to wear the abs of the Abs. I'm a genius with 500 IQ." Ryan Smith stated.

The rest of the table nodded silently while they were listening to the ramblings of the owner. An owner who realized that the people of Utah were not as smart and clever as he thought they were. And the only one who should be crowned was himself. Mr. Smith had come up with the great idea and perhaps an endless idea of merchandise for his Abominables franchise. In his mind it was an infinite money glitch.

The camera shifted to Bill Armstrong, GM of the Abominables.

"All right lads. Any names stand out to youse? Bill asked.

The other hockey ops guys shook their heads no. Clearly they had no idea of which prospect to select at this point. It was almost like they have no idea what they're doing and are just collecting a paycheck.

"Well I guess I have to bite the bullet." Bill exclaimed. "I think we should go with this lad, even though he has a knee injury. You can't have enough guys that have size."

Bill leaned into the microphone in front of himself to announce the selection.

"With the 46th pick in the 2025 NHL draft, the Utah Abominables select, Carter Amico
from the USNTDP."

Utah Abominables Selections
4) James Hagens, C, Boston College (NCAA)
46) Carter Amico, RD, USNTDP (USHL)
