Fantasy Sports: Flyers Board Mock Draft 2025

1st pick in the draft - definitely didn’t see that coming!

Man, this was tough. I have 1A and 1B on my list - it's basically a coin flip for me.

That said, the potential minute-munching D just barely edges out the hometown kid, and the New York Islanders are proud to select:

Matthew Schaefer

@LT San Jose is on the clock!

With the third overall selection in the 2025 Flyers Board Mock NHL Entry Draft, the Chicago Blackhawks select the future wingman to Connor Bedard, Porter Martone, RW, Brampton Steelheads, OHL.

@Chinatown88 is up. PM being sent.

June 27th, 2025
The Peacock Theater, Los Angeles, California, United States

An aerial view of the venue is shown to the viewers at home. The weather seems ideal in LA. A familiar voice is heard;

"Well folks. It's that time of year again."

Those watching the broadcast in there humble abodes could clearly discern that it was the legendary man himself, Morgan Freeman. A new viewer might wonder how a second rate sports league such as the NHL can afford a top tier actor and a top tier narrator. Well, the commissioner Gary Bettman also known as the inspiration for the Keebler Elf might have promised Mr. Freeman and his former partner all of the money from the TV rights deal with the House of Mouse.

"Ladies and gentleman, this afternoon we will embark on a journey to find out where 32 young men will start their careers in the NHL. I hope you sit back and enjoy the fascinating display of Hockey Dinosaurs and young nerds to see which teams can survive the upcoming hockey season."

Fast forward to the 4th selection after returning from a commerical break sponsored by Keebler Fudge Stripes.

"We're back and on the stage now with the 4th selection is the Utah Hockey Club. Apparently they have a big announcement too."

The giant screen in the back displayed the generic Utah Hockey Club logo. On the stage was the owner Ryan Smith and the Utah management brass. Mr. Smith approached the microphone.

"Before we make our pick. I'd like to make an announcement," Mr. Smith began. "Last year we made our first ever selection as the NHL franchise representing Utah. Over the course of the past year we've left it to our fans to share their ideas for a name. And tonight I am proud to announce..."

Mr. Freeman chimes in quietly.
"According to the Internet detectives, this should be the Utah Mammoth. But things could change."

"... that the Utah Mammoth will be joining the other 31 teams in the NHL."

The giant screen in the background showed a giant wooly mammoth charging towards the Hockey club logo and destroying it.

The crowd cheered and applauded as they got to witness this historic occasion live from The Peacock Theater in LA. Then a loud disc scratch played through the Peacock Theater's audio system. Mr. Ryan Smith then grabbed the microphone.

"Oh my gosh," Mr. Freeman uttered. "There's more?"

"I lied. All of you smart internet detectives think you know everything. Just because you happened to find out that the Utah Hockey Club YouTube channel changed the name? You think that's some massive leak of some sort and announced it to the world."

"This feels like a wrestling heel turn," Mr. Freeman stated. "Especially after that cheesey WrestleMania 41 main event."

"Well maybe it turns out that it was done on purpose. Maybe I realized that the people who voted on my Qualtrics platform are not the brightest. The Utah Outlaw? The Utah Mammoth? The Utah name ourselves after a mountain range? None of those sell. None of those have a good vibe to it. Heck it should have been the Utah Yeti but the people are too dumb to realize a good idea when they see it."

The broadcasts cuts to the mammoth on the screen. Suddenly the mammoth starts to move and runs away. Four shadows are seen chasing after the mammoth. However, one comes back and starts tapping on the screen in confusion.

"Is that a yeti?" Mr. Freeman asked.

The creature turned it's head to the right and let out a screech. Slowly on screen appeared a Sasquatch, Bigfoot and The Abominable Snowman.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the real name of the Utah hockey franchise. The Utah Abominables! And starting today after our selection all the jerseys and plushies you can imagine will be on sale on our website. Over time our franchise will reveal the stories and tales of our budding little world featuring our Abominables and their adventures. The ups and downs of being a giant furry creature, friends and enemies that they may encounter in the future."

"Oh that's marketing genius," Mr. Freeman chimed in. "Clearly Mr. Smith was not happy with any of the potential names and marketing the fans voted on. After all the NHL might be a professional sports league. But at the end of the day, it's just business."

Mr. Smith continued talking.

"Anyways now for our selection. With the 4th overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft. The Utah Abominables select, James Hagens from Boston College."

4) James Hagens, C, Boston College (NCAA)

@pit and Nashville are up. Will PM as well.

Bettman: The Nashville Predators are on the clock.

Trotz: The Nashville Predators would like to begin by saying that your draft lottery sucks Bettman and it's ridiculous that the team who finished third last drafts fifth while the team who just missed the playoffs drafts second. Your system sucks as bad as you.

Bettman: Get a neck.

Trotz: Oh, I plan to. I've been scoping out these draftees to see who has the best one so I can get a neck-ectomy.

Bettman: These are future players for your team, not organ donors you Frankenstein freak.

Trotz: We'll see.

Anyway, under my regime, we are going to Make the Preds Great Again. We will hearken back to the glory days under my coaching where we saw legends like David Legwand lead the team. In the spirit of time, as I have to get to something more important right now, we will move right to our pick.

The Nashville Predators are pleased to select, with the 5th overall pick (which we aren't pleased about) in the 2025 Entry Draft, from Djurgårdens IF, Anton Frondell.
