Chasm of Sar (north of Montreal, Qc)
Gary Bettman climbs up the steps to the draft podium. “The next franchise to select for the 17th overall pick are the Nashville …”

“YAHOOOOOO!!!!”

“… Predators.”

General Manager David Poile, looking awkward and sweaty in a cowboy outfit, approaches the front of the drafting area accompanied by 8-time Grammy Award winner Carrie Underwood, looking radiant in a Predators jersey.

Poile leans forward and speaks into the microphone.

“Thank you, Mr. Commissioner. To answer my most frequent question of the weekend so far, no I did not lose a bet. Since having been swept out of the recent playoffs in the first round – and congratulations, by the way, to the
as if I know!
for their hard-fought and much deserved Stanley Cup victory – my Public Relations department strongly encouraged that we remain connected with our amazing fanbase in a way that doesn’t emphasize us being competitive.

“As an extension of this decision, I am announcing that I am stepping down as the General Manager. Ms. Underwood will be my replacement.

Poile steps back, stumbling on his spurs, and allows Underwood to approach the podium.

“HOW Y’ALL DOING??!?!!? WOOHOO!!!!! I am honoured to be named the GM of the Predators and have been a loyal fan since the first day my wonderful husband Mike Fisher joined the team. Some of you may even know that I have officially been a player on the Predators’ roster, which has some sort of legal meaning for another draft somewhere else that has some crazy connection to ducks. But that ain’t my reason for being up here. We’re here to ADD SOME TALENTTTTTTTT!!! to the Predators family.

“And what better way to do that than to choose a good ol’ boy from the South with a good ol’ boy name? We choose JIMMY SNUGGERUD!!!! Come on up here, Jimmy, you’re a Predator …

“… for now.

“Umm, he’s from Minnesota,” Poile whispers to Underwood.

“What?”

“He’s from Minnesota.”

“That’s in the south, ain’t it?”

Snuggerud ambles to the stage and extends his hand to shake Underwood’s. Poile smacks his arm down.

“NO TOUCHING MS. UNDERWOOD! That’s your first rule, boy!”

“S’okay, Dave, we’re family here.” Underwood gives Snuggerud a hug. Poile follows suit in what will be forever described as the most awkward moment of NHL draft history. Poile then hands Snuggerud an enormous catfish. The group gathers for pictures.

“Now y’all take your catfish back to your proud mamma and pappa and we’ll see you in SMASHVILLE!!!! WOO!!”

@Ernest95 now to pick for the Dallas (YEEHAWWWW!!!!!!!!) Stars.

“S’okay, Dave, we’re family here.” Underwood gives Snuggerud a hug. Poile follows suit in what will be forever described as the most awkward moment of NHL draft history. Poile then hands Snuggerud

HEY EVERYBODY, RON HEXTALL HERE WITH A MESSAGE TO THE FLYERS: CLARKIE STIIIIINKS!!!!!!

WITH THE 21ST OVERALL PICK, THE PITTSBURGH PENGUINS SELECT FUTURE PERENNIAL SELKE TROPHY CANDIDATE:

Luca Del Bel Belluz!

1652576161129.png

2021-22 Team: Mississauga Steelheads (OHL)
Date of Birth: Nov. 10, 2003
Age 18
Place of Birth: Woodbridge, ON, CAN
Nationality: Canadian
Ht: 6'1" / 185cm
Wt: 179 lbs / 81 kg
Shoots: Left
Position: Center

scum analysis: Pittsburgh needs center depth to replace the presence of Jeff Carter, Evgeni Malkin, and Sidney Crosby as they continue to age and retire within the next 2-5 seasons. Del Bel Belluz has a mouthful of a name, is lanky and awkward looking while using his body effectively to create space and keep control of the puck. His current accelerated development pace could rocket up his potential all the way to a first line two way center a la Sean Couturier. That is a reach for him however, I am very comfortable giving him a feasible upside of a defensively responsible two-way 2C/3C able to eat minutes and stabilize the game. In the OHL he is the leading scorer for the Mississauga Steelheads for the 2021-2022 season recording 30 goals and 46 assists for 76 points in 68 games played. He will likely be a late bloomer, but could really come into his own in the Penguin's system as their current Center depth leaves and be an integral part of the inevitable rebuild. B- floor Prospect with a B+/A- upside.

Knowing Ron Hextall, he'll take Defenseman Lian Bichsel instead because of course he would, but I foresee Luca Del Bel Belluz ranking in the top 10 of the redraft in 10 years, and I value middle-six two way Centers more than #3/4 Defensemen

@Chuck Downie you're up bud!

Kyle Dubas: Hey everyone, happy to be here. Thanks to our hosts, the Montreal Canadiens, and to our dedicated fans who followed us to another Cup victory.

Brendan Shanahan:
Um, Kyle, we're out in the first round AGAIN. That footage you keep playing on a loop is from the AHL championship. We haven't won a series in almost 20 years and you're a big part of that.

KD: Yes, thank you, thank you to our fans. We do it for you.

BS: Kyyyyle..

KD: Anyway, moving on, nothing can stop us. Well, except for motherf***ing autopick. I was ready to snag a patented Dubas faller with this pick but looks like that isn't in the cards. Luckily, I've got another excellent option because when you're a kid genius, you always arrive with a backup plan.

BS: You're going to need one in a year or so.

KD: Yep, that's right, so the Leafs are proud to select with the 29th pick of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, from Omsk, Gleb Trikozov!

KD: Oh, and he comes with a built in goal song!

BS: Don't worry Kyle, we're going to get you the help you need.

Toronto Maple Leafs
1 - 29 - Gleb Trikozov, RW, Omsk (MHL)

@SnS
