This mock has been a lot of fun. Now that I (Blues) have 1 pick left. I realised that I still have a pretty good list of players that I think should and probably will be drafted on June 24.

I am going to pick one of these players but not sure yet which one:

Jordy Bellerive
http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=201684

Greg Meireles
http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=286948

Andrei Altybarmakian
http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=313706

Matt Timms
http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=267713

Ryan McGregor
http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=289231

Denis Kuyanov
http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=313722

Maxim Tsyplakov
http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=354505

Saku Vesterinen
http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=325852

Tomas Vomacka
http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=247581

German Poddubniy
http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=273987

I could probably think of a couple more but these ones had some merit of some kind in my mind to be drafted.

With the #205 selection in this fictitious exercise of talent evaluation, the Sharks are proud to select a currently one-way player, with the desire that the defensive side of the puck can be taught as not to be a detriment to the team when not scoring. He is an excellent skater, good speed, change of pace, puck control and passing skills are both excellent.

Hailing from Russia, 6' 180 lbs., above that magical .9 PPG needed for CHL players, is the overager, who completed his rookie season second in scoring in the QMJHL, Ivan Kosorenkov is a Shark draftee!

VIC_Kosorenkov.jpg

The Sharks scoff at make-believe commissioner Chuck Downie's attempt to sway the remaining teams from selecting players he secretly coverts, instead of the red herring list posted prior to the #205 selection.

Ha! If that were true I'd try and convince the other GM's that Texas-Kid Egertz was still eligible due to his awesome name.

Texas-Kid hasn't laced em' up in 5 years so I seek special permission from the fake Board of Govenors to allow the Blues to select him :sarcasm:

The Rangers select, with obvious bias, from the Calgary Hitmen, Andrei Grishakov.

I'm actually surprised that he is continually getting overlooked. The Hitmen were terrible this year, but Yeryomenko and Kastelic keep showing up as late picks. I think Grishakov has a lot more talent than either of those two but was stifled by coaching and the language barrier. So, given what's left on the board, the Rangers are happy to swing for the fences and hope they can hit a Datsyuk in the late rounds.

Can somebody PM the next pick for me?

This is how I ended up with both my teams. Definitely happier with the Sabres than the Oilers. We should have a poll after this to see whom everyone thinks did the best job.

Sabres Picks
1(8) - Cale Makar, D, Brooks (AJHL)
2(37) - Shane Bowers, C, Waterloo (USHL)
2(58) - Jarret Tyszka, D, Seattle (WHL)
3(68) - Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, G, HPK U20 (Liiga Jr)
3(93) - Dylan Samberg, D, Waterloo (USHL)
4(99) - Filip Westerlund, D, Frolunda (SHL)
6(161) - Randy Hernandez, RW, (USNTDP)
7(192) - Petrus Palmu, RW, Owen Sound Attack (OHL)

Oilers
1(24) - Nicholas Hague, D, Mississauga (OHL)
3(84) - Eemeli Räsänen, D, Kingston (OHL)
3(86) - Brannon McManus, RW, Chicago (USHL)
4(117) - Zach Gallant, C, Peterborough (OHL)
5(126) - Ivan Kozlov, C/LW, Val-d`Or (QMJHL)
5(146) - Alex D'Orio, G, Saint John (QMJHL)

Winnipeg Jets select, from EV Zug in the NLA, LHD Tobias Geisser.

'This kid is a freak. He is already 6'4 and skates very well for his size. Massive shot too. We like his potential as a future NHLer, his upside might even be a #4.'

Wow...I was not in the draft but was thinking of a poll as well. You could take like split it into 4 groups, then vote on the 4 groups to get a final 2....then vote on the 2 to get a winner.

Not a bad idea.

Keep the ideas coming and whether you are interested and I could put it together. We'll need more GM's to post their final lists though.

Will be cool too to see who got the best steal and who reached the highest (at least based on where players actually get chosen, not necessarily who the better players will be).

I was thinking of a way to measure that too. Im sure someone smarter could think of it lol.

In regards to ranking, think of a point system for a range, within 4 picks +/- of mock vs. actual, equals 5 points, between 5-9 picks of mock vs. actual, 3 pts, between 10-15 spots, 2 pts, same round but greater than 15 spots is 1 pt. If more than 25 places off and not in same round, -1 pt.

That would be a somewhat fair gauge as to how we did at make pretend. Point values and ranges open to change.

Really good idea too. Might need some help with ideas like this.
