Streit didn't get to change, he was out with Couturier and Simmonds.

Streit looks good to me, not sure why anyone would be whining about him. He'll be 39 in 2 months and is still the team's 3rd best defenseman at this point.

Having said that, one of Provorov or Gostisbehere should be on the ice at almost all times during OT.

Yeah Weise put that in a perfect spot but Matt "Low Event" Read not only didnt have his stick on the ice but he didnt even turn to look for a pass. This sums up Reads game now. He just skates around doing nothing.

3on3 is mayhem anyway. Can't really judge a player based on that. Some are just not suited for it.

That's questionable but Provorov's easily the better skater.

He doesn't think the game as quick as Streit yet, which is how he got caught from behind on that turnover.

Streit skated well enough to be part of two strong scoring chances.

Not sure why anyone is complaining about streit. He's looked pretty good and probably would have won the game there if he wasn't interfered with.

Streit' a better offensive Dman than a Provorov right now.

Sure, but 3 on 3 is a whole different beast with the space and skating. Also, Provy has been playing very conservative and setting Streit up most of the time. He absolutely can and will bring the offense. I don't have a problem with Streit. He SHOULD be one of the 3 d men used. But there's no excuse for Read and Weise being out there. Konecny would have been a better fit next to Coots than Simmer if we look at that pair too.

I agree with Konecny over Read, but I don't know why Weise is a bad OT choice. Good skater, good shot, and the other options were

Cousins
Bellemare
Read
Raffl
VdV
Gordon

Can anybody explain to me why Matt Read is on this team? Please. Not why he should not be on this team but why he should be on this team? I cannot explain What he does hockey-wise to be on this team.

You know you have a passionate group of fans when everyone is so annoyed by a preseason loss lol.

He probably won't score 20 goals again. But on a defensive-minded line I prefer him over Vandevelde, Cousins or Weal.

It's pretty much the same situation as MacDonald. People are starting to hate him because of his contract.

Cousins struggled mightily again.

If you're going to play him on the wing you might as well take him out of the lineup. He's a center all the way & putting him the wing pretty much exposes his weaknesses. They would get more out of that line if they flip flopped him & Bellemare.

I guess you see this on opening night which isn't really ideal to be honest:

Raffl/Read - Bellemare - Weise
VandeVelde - Gordon - Raffl/Read

Idgaf about the result, but coaching decisions I do care about b/c those stick

Yeah I feel that way too. Read-Weise is just a poor decision for 3 on 3. Especially when Konecny hadnt touched the ice yet. But lets chalk it up to preseason experimentation and hope we never see it in the reg.
