I don't see the big deal here. Sounds like a Flyers PR staffer got caught on a hot mic saying stuff everyone says behind closed doors anyway. Apology made, moving on.

No real need to discuss egos, 'respect' and all that. PR/comms staffers are often every bit the primadonnas that reporters are..probably because they're recruited from more or less the same pool of people anyway.

I’m my line of work we aren’t all delicate flowers and have no problem talking to each other like this because we never take anything this serious.

You can call it getting bent out of shape but I call it finding it amusing with all the fake rage over nothing burgers like this story.
A lot of this would probably be cut out if you actually addressed points that were raised to you instead of skirting every point and kicking the can down the road by saying how superior you and the people in "your line of work" are. I'm curious to know why you haven't actually answered the prompt of what line of work you're in.

There are definitely statements in every business that would be an issue. There's nothing wrong with admitting a fault man-to-man and apologizing when a line has been crossed.

Admitting an error is so beta.

Somehow “yeah, that was dumb. Anyways…” has turned into 8 pages of weirdos pretending anybody cared about this whole event. I have yet to see anybody in this thread being sanctimonious or white knighting anything. Nobody as of yet has given a single shit about this blip of a goof except for all the dorks spouting their favorite conservative bumper stickers for whatever reason. Bunch of grown men that can’t handle hearing about even the most basic, perfunctory apology without throwing a fit. It’s pathetic.

My favorite part is the one where apologizing is a beta move. Real men in real men work never apologize.

“Why do you have to be so pissy?”
Jim Matheson, Edmonton Journal to Leon Draisaitl after Leon answered his series of questions succinctly.

”Hey Spec, can I talk to you?” MCDavid to Sportsent reporter Mark Spector after a press conference, where it’s been suggested that CMcD tuned him in over his approach to players.

Both reporters are notable spoon fed primmadonas that turn on players who make them earn their living.
Examples 1 and 1A why some players hate talking to the media.
Don't think anyone is going to top when Jake Voracek called out Mike Sielski. Another case where the reporter absolutely deserved it because he was a notorious prick.
