He’s been super solid and it seems it’s been forever since Philly had a quality netminder

Happy for that fan base

I know goaltending is at a premium in the NHL today, but I don't know why teams decide to give a 5 year deal to a guy who performed like a starter for the first time in his NHL career at age 28. Especially when he has another year under contract, so it's not like a "sign him now or you lose him" situation.
You know how many goalies don’t establish themselves til their late 20s?

If he continues to be a top 25 goalie in the league, this is a really good deal. If he starts playing like a backup, it's a $5 million ish cap hit until 2032 for a backup.

It could go either way long-term. As others have said, perhaps it's an unnecessary risk.

The Flyers will pay a premium on players who want to be here. They don’t have any other plays to make.

He was good this year and he’s just coming into his prime years.

Goalies are voodoo and of course there is risk, but I see him a lot closer to a Vejmelka or Blackwood than a Lankinen.

Great deal for Vladar and good for him to get some security.

Kind of baffling from the Flyers. Waiting another 6-12 months to see if the results were replicated wouldn't increase the cap hit all that much
