Elliott is awful. He sucked for the Flames for a large chunk of the year. There's a reason as to why they're one of the teams also looking for a goalie now, because Elliott sucks.
I think he's a solid regular season goalie. He's been terrible in the playoffs though for both Calgary and St. Louis.
I feel like Neuvirth and Ellitt could work though. One's a solid regular season goalie, the other has shown that he can be reliable in the playoffs.

Who cares if we get Elliott. Do you really believe we are a goalie away from winning the cup? We just need a body until stolarz, hart, etc are ready to take over.

It's not about winning the Cup next year.

It SHOULD be about making the playoffs and gaining valuable experience for Provorov, Konecny, Lindblom, 2nd overall, Morin, Hagg, Sanheim, etc.

With the right matchup in the 1st round, we could definitely win a round..which would be great for the youth and the overall trajectory of the club.

Yeah, it's important that we make the next step next season. Voracek even said so in his exit interview that he expects major changes if this team doesn't make the playoffs next year.

Both Stolarz and Lyon have one year left or they are out of the organization.

Hart has one year in juniors.
Sandstrom signed a 1 year extension on 5/10. Hextall blew that one.
Madsen is a junior at Harvard.

We should have brought Sandstrom over this summer and released either Lyon or Stolarz.

Next year we will have 2 or 3 guys fighting for AHL spots with Lyon and Stolarz out of the organization.

To be honest, we have the number two pick and the 2018 draft is supposed to be stacked. I am all for blowing up the team this offseason.

I came to the realization this year that the core is just not that good. We have had the same issues of inconsistency, poor PK, poor ES, and inconsistent PP going back to when Lavs was coach. It is on the players now, not the coach.

For all the Flyers PR department raves about the talent on this team and feed it through the broadcasts they have missed the playoffs in three of the past five years.

experience does not win in sports. Talent does. By making the playoffs as an 8 seed you miss out on a chance to win a draft lottery and aquire superior talent. you want to make the playoffs because you are led by young talent such as toronto this year. You dont want to make the playoffs because you have aging stars and shoot to make it as a 8th seed such as the rangers.

This makes no sense whatsoever.

Sandstrom will develop as well if not better with Brynas in the SHL.

Stolarz and Lyon are both solid goalie prospects in their own right and will have another year of development as either an NHL back-up or platooning in the AHL. It is important year for both for sure, but in no way shape or form should either have been released this summer.

I personally want Stolarz as the Flyers back-up in 17-18. But with the Neuvirth re-signing and his inability to carry the load as a #1, that makes this scenario doubtful.

So the experience the Leafs youth gained in their series against Washington won't serve them well heading into next season? The Blackhawks losing to Detroit in the 3rd round in 09 in their first run as a group didn't help them in 2010?

Complete nonsense.

Teams don't go from missing the playoffs to winning the Cup in 1 season typically, so since our ultimate goal is to win the Cup, we need to start making the Playoffs NEXT SEASON.

Sandstrom either comes over this summer or waits two years. I would rather him get one full year of Flyers coaching than fight through that backlog.

In 18-19, you could have three goaltenders fighting for two spots in the AHL. Not good.

If the organization had any confidence in Stolarz he would have gotten more time. I like Stolarz but the writing is on the wall.

Sandstrom extended his contract with Brynas. He will be there for 1 more year than likely come over in the summer of 2018.

The organization has confidence in Stolarz, or they wouldn't be protecting him in the Expansion draft as they are expected to do.

Hakstol is just a moron and blew a great opportunity to give him a nice amount of starts while Neuvirth was out. Instead, he started him twice in 27 games even though he had a shut-out in 1 of the starts and won the other start without problem.

Why is it an issue to have 3 good goalie prospects fighting for 2 spots? If one of them isn't a Flyer by then, which they likely will be, then you can just trade 1 of them to recoup an asset. Pretty simple.

The cream will rise to the top at the end of the day.

the reason why those teams benefitted from their experience is because of talent.

Who has more experience than the LA kings? how come they have not made the playoffs these past two years?

talent wins, when you have talent those teams make the playoffs hence experience. You can't win if your players are not better than the players they play against. Its honestly that simple.

No ****, but you need to get your talent experience too.

We have both veteran talent and young talent, and now we need to get them Playoff experience together.

Pretty simple concept.

Hakstol is not a moron.

It showed how much confidence the org had in Stolarz. When Stolarz was returned to the AHL and spent time backing up Lyon he played poorly when called upon.

Trading goaltenders never backfired on us before. Nope. Never.
