GDT: Fly Canesmen Fly Upon Your Mystery Ship

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server
Morrow is feeling things out.. he’s still figuring out what he can get away with at this level and what will not work.. he can be pressured and he can be exposed in those situations still…. he tries to hero puck it too many times. He has gotten away with it more times than it has bit him…. But some of it works so he is starting to feel empowered to do those things that will drive Brindy and the coaching staff nuts who want us in rigid structure in certain looks and situations.. it’s a really cool comparison to watch him try to get shots on net from the point versus Burns.. Morrow is finding angles and shot locations that make it past the high forward trying to block whereas Burns has had more and more trouble as time has gone on getting the shot through…. The main difference is reaction time and Morrows pucks have less zip and speed on them while Burns still tries to get as much power as before and doesn’t have enough time to get it wound up before the forward reacts and moves to intercept.. morrow trying to react faster and just get them through.. so less options and more chance to be blocked or saved closer to the goalie when morrow does it… but also higher percentage get there and provide chance of rebound if the forwards adjust to what morrow is doing…. Burns, when he gets into one is harder shot and if it does get through usually gets all the way to the net.. and more seem to actually be below the crossbar and on net the last few games…. Burns seeing the competition and stepping up more? Because for most of the year he couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn if it even got through…

It’s fascinating to watch the evolution of Morrows play and to see the comparison with Burns..…. We just need to see more reps from him to see if it’s sustainable and he needs more reps to see and feel more comfortable himself. Morrow is trying to make a case for having a permanent spot. I haven’t seen enough to say he should be gifted a slot on the pairing with Slavin just yet. But he is miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiles better than the level he was at the end of his university season and in his first few games with us at the end of last year…. The time in the AHL has really been good for him….. watching a lot of his games last season at UMass on ESPN+, I had serious questions if he really would be able to make the transition to the NHL level right away or if it would need time in the minors….This current run of games are doing a lot to ease my doubts…. We need to figure out how to keep him playing and learning until the end of the year..

As to the rest, same type of comments as last night…. Philly put up more of a fight than Detroit did.. they try to block more shots and have a strong box in front of the net but they are short some players and are a bit downtrodden coming out of the trade deadline.. we did a good job playing at pace and pushing hard the whole game from the whole lineup… it was consistent across the lines to push and be fast north south hockey.. Robinson again had a game and is auditioning for a new deal. I hope we get something done with Hall. He still has a lot left in the tank and I’m happy he is here. He seems to want to stay and get some stability and we should give it to him as we have more and more kids come up through the ranks…

Im concerned that we have a regular season Aho line. Come playoff time where it gets heavier and more physical that shrimp line of Aho, Jarvis and Blake is going to get shut down and hurt. But for now it is working… and Jankowski seems like the steal of trade deadline…. Hope he keeps it up for the rest of the year and next year since he has another year on his deal at barely above league minimum…

Two points, another W in that column, one step closer to our goal. Loving the win streak. Everyone playing free and loose and with real confidence. Almost hate they have such a break to rest. Want to just keep rolling to keep the momentum going.
