Florida’s future in net…is Bob.

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server

GR goes into it here. Says management believes he’s in his prime and could go another 5 years. Doesn’t sound like they’ll re-sign him for the same amount, but they want to re-sign him. I thought for sure they would’ve let him walk before they moved Spence. Bob is in a good space mentally and physically.

Well, hopefully the backup they get is can be the next Logan Thompson gem find.

No doubt Bob can play for a bit longer but there comes a point for all athletes where the body can't keep up.
Felt like Tim Thomas was pulling something in his lower body every week his one year
Thomas' pretty great, but he sat on his ass probably doing nothing for 2 years before coming back.

50 game max next year then?
Luongo must have some say here of course?
He is skinny and limber but worry about anything over 2 year deal, takes him to 40 or 41?

Another 5 years is pretty optimistic... Goalies better than Bob have retired before 41 and seen their play decline significantly in that time span.

Maybe he can pull off a Fleury in those last couple of years where he halves the starting load with another goaltender.

Well that would be ludicrous if they did.

I agree, I think Mo is just overstating

between his natural athleticism and his rigorous workout regimen, I think he’ll have 3-4 years of solid play. 5 isn’t inconceivable, just may not be at this level. With the way he currently looks and with a solid team in front of him, he’ll get through next year just fine and then sign him for 2-3yrs at a reasonable aav. I’m not too concerned for the next 3 seasons to follow this one, the 4th and 5th year are more wild cards but we’ll see.

As far as a successor is concerned, most teams don’t just have a guy pre-committed that they’ll just hand the reigns over to. Who knows, maybe cooper black is the guy. Let him marinate in the AHL for several years like we should’ve done with knight. And when bob starts to slow down we can ease him in. Or you explore your options through ufa or trades. Goalies typically don’t return a big haul and we’ve been good about identifying goaltenders in general. Driedger, Lyon, and Stolarz all excelled here

Yeah; 2yrs x 4M.
That'd be awesome, though at two years I'd expect it to cost more. I'd really prefer 2 years instead of 3 because fall of the cliff can come so fast, but we'll see.

Though I wonder if this is another reason why Zito is betting on Bob instead of Knight. If Knight establishes himself as a n.1, his next contract will be expensive. With Bob, you can hope for the "35+ discount".
