Pretty sure NYI is keeping Varlamov at least until the start of next season.

It sounds like they could have moved him this deadline if they wanted to.
Yeah, Varlamov will be available if and only if NYI are out of it next year's deadline. Not in the offseason.

Buffalo desperately needs a vet to pair with UPL, but this summers crop really doesnt inspire confidence outside of the top few, who I don't think will be signing with them. Adams is going to have to do his due diligence regarding the magic beans left, and most are just 'fingers crossed' that they have a good season in my book. If theres a trade market for the Gibsons or Helles he's gotta be in there within reason.

Fleury either remains in Minnesota or goes to Pittsburgh. Maybe we might even see him sign a dumb contract elsewhere.
Kuemper might come to an agreement to stay in Colorado after realizing it'll be as good as it gets there for him. I could see 6 x $3.5M AAV. Otherwise, he signs overpay elsewhere.
Campbell stays in Toronto
Nedeljkovic stays in Detroit
Blackwood traded, I see maybe Blackwood++ for Gibson
Murray likely remains in Ottawa
Mrazek probably is place in the AHL
Reimer signs as a cheap backup in like Tampa or the Rangers.
Georgiev signs for big bucks in the KHL
Jones probably signs with a team desperate for a back-up.
Varlamov likely stays with the Islanders.
Gibson likely stays in Anaheim, but I think New Jersey might just be the team to trade for him.
Where does Husso sign?

Even tougher

no it isn't, a NMC is literally that, no move that means, no trade, no waivers, nothing

there are very few full NTC and even if he has one you can force him to waive it by waving him and sending him to the AHL

A NMC you can't do shit

That strategy wont work with Binnington. No one is claiming him while his value is low. You can only claw back what, 1.1 million? He'd call that bluff. Just like with Bobrovsky, St.Louis is going to ride it out with Binnington and try to get him going

Reimer isn’t an FA

I seriously doubt they can move him before 2024-2025 when the NTC turns into M-NTC*

*) The M-NTC is 18 teams in 24-25 and two more spots opens up every season after that.

when I look at the goalie market this summer, I'm wondering if this might be the most flooded goalie market we have ever seen?

in free agency the top 3 are Kempeur, Fluery and Campbell but the trade market is where things get interesting.

you got Blackwood in NJ

you probably got Gibson with the Ducks

you got Geregeive with the NYR

you might have Varlamov with the NYI

you probably got Reimer in SJ

Marazek is absolutely on the block in Toronto

I wonder what happens with Murray in Ottawa? will he get bought out?

I wonder about Ned in Detroit, does Yzerman see him as the guy?

to me this could be the most flooded goalie market we have ever seen I can't remember a time when potenally half the league could change goalies and I didn't even mention Price in Montreal, what happens with him? he hasn't played at all this year but montreal is in total rebuild.

and not only that but it appears that that there may be more goalies on the market than teams looking for goalies.

Toronto and Edmonton come to mind, MAYBE Vegas depending on Lehner and NJ if they do trade Blackwood but not many more

this could be a wild off season for goalies
I think if Price can play a hand of games this season, to prove he is healthy. Montreal may trade him. Either double retained or half retained and a contract coming back.

There is no way Montreal trades Price to Toronto though. Goaltending is the Leafs Kryonite. Price proved last year he can take a team singlehandly to a Cup final. It would be suicide for Montreal in playoffs next 4 years.

Price wants to go out west but Seattle is rebuilding and Vancouver have a good goalie. I can't see them having interest. Edmonton they seem more interested in finding bargain bin caliber netminding.

A team like Washington may have interest if they go out early? Price double retained for Samsonov? With Capitals throwing a prospect to a team like Arizona to be third team? Habs could chip in Weber to the desert to help trade along?

Helps all three teams. Capitals get stud goalie on a 3 million contract next 4 years. Arizona gets cap relief and a decent prospect while Montreal creates 5 million in caproom and gets a younger goalie back.

I can see the Devils offering their 2nd rounder this year and a C level prospect for Samsonov.

This makes me howl with laughter.

It's way less than I offered for Blackwood and was roasted as a "typical Oiler fan, not willing to pay for a goalie" from @Devsguy24

For the record I think it's a reasonable offer, though I think the Oilers would beat that by upgrading the prospect to B+.

I'm not sure if he's asked for a trade recently but he has said in the past he's not interested in a rebuild and the Ducks are headed for a rebuild.
Umm? Ducks HAVE BEEN in a rebuild for years and are on the verge of coming out of one. I wouldn't mind trading him, but bringing this up when we've been picking in the top-10 for 3 years straight is odd.

I don't think Blackwood or Samsonov have much value really, but NJ will keep Blackwood because they need goaltending badly, whereas Washington has to choose between Vanecek/Samsonov and can't keep both. If Devils trade Blackwood they are getting a goalie back basically, no other trade makes sense for them.

Sensible response. I'm not sure I would trade Skinner for Blackwood, he still has some upside of his own that we don't yet understand.

You could have a year of Mike Smith if you like? That would be no trouble from our side. Great mentor ;)

Otherwise we are probably outbidding you on Samsonov.
