when I look at the goalie market this summer, I'm wondering if this might be the most flooded goalie market we have ever seen?

in free agency the top 3 are Kempeur, Fluery and Campbell but the trade market is where things get interesting.

you got Blackwood in NJ

you probably got Gibson with the Ducks

you got Geregeive with the NYR

you might have Varlamov with the NYI

you probably got Reimer in SJ

Marazek is absolutely on the block in Toronto

I wonder what happens with Murray in Ottawa? will he get bought out?

I wonder about Ned in Detroit, does Yzerman see him as the guy?

to me this could be the most flooded goalie market we have ever seen I can't remember a time when potenally half the league could change goalies and I didn't even mention Price in Montreal, what happens with him? he hasn't played at all this year but montreal is in total rebuild.

and not only that but it appears that that there may be more goalies on the market than teams looking for goalies.

Toronto and Edmonton come to mind, MAYBE Vegas depending on Lehner and NJ if they do trade Blackwood but not many more

this could be a wild off season for goalies

The goalie carousal always leaves half a dozen teams with new starters. This year isn't special.

>Fleury
There is always a solid, aged starter on the UFA market.
>Kuemper
There is always another solid starter on the UFA market.
>Campbell, Ned, Blackwood
There are always a few inconsistent, unproven goalies on the market.
>Mrazek, Murray, Reimer, Georgiev, Jones...
Nobody wants these guys
>Varlamov
I guess he is interesting because you usually don't see solid starters with good contracts on the trade market, but he also has an NTC and has shown willingness to use it.
>Gibson
I don't understand where the trade talk on him comes from. People have been posting about it for what? Three years now?

Gibson has previously stated that he is not interested in a rebuild and that appears to be where the Ducks are headed, hence the talk

I'm not sure if he's asked for a trade recently but he has said in the past he's not interested in a rebuild and the Ducks are headed for a rebuild.

Oh fair enough. I can see that with all his friends going. Rebuild and Cali crazy taxes.

I would think he has the highest potential. But I wonder re the contract. His stats have been brutal on a terrible team so it’s tough to say

Best goalie. Yes
Most value on contract based on term? Not sure.

I would take him but fleury at 7 was literally free after a vezina so who knows

i anticipate a Habs<>NYR deal, for some Gorton guys, that likely includes, among others, Georgiev<>Allen in the bundles. Allen UFA next year, Georgie pending RFA this

It's been reported that Gorton has no interest in Georgiev.

Mrazek might be available but good chance Leafs will have to pay a team to take him off their hands.
Cant assume it would be cheap but I if that happens itll be a trade Leafs gotta force cause I cant see any teams going out of their way to contact Toronto on him
he really shouldnt even be on the list just because its so obvious haha
more of a negative asset right now :(
I wonder if he can come back from this horrible season I mean Mrazek was never great but he wasnt this bad either.
that and he has bad luck this year, finally starts to play decent for a couple games then boom another injury

would love Blackwood in Toronto but I cant see NJ moving him unless there's a clear cut answer that wont cost them an arm and a leg
I figure Blackwood's value is prob lowered now because of the news that got out
best thing they could do is try to move on and let him play a little to show teams his heel issues are in the past.
then NJ can move him for something better and not have to over spend
I think atleast

Lots of teams need goaltending, NJ, Buffalo, Chicago all need starters, many teams need backups.

Flooded with quantity, not quality.

Varly is probably not going to be traded, and the rest of the names on that list leave a lot to be desired to put it nicely.

seems like a weaker market this year than in the past.

Maybe, but I'd wait to see how it shakes out. Most of the goalies on the trade market are either in the following categories:

-Please take this contract off my hands.
-This player isn't very good.
-I may trade this player if the right offer appears, but I'm happy to keep them.

And who are the UFA goalies that teams would want?

-Kuemper
-Husso
-Campbell
-Fleury (if he wants to keep playing)

Maybe Wedgewood?

And of all the trade candidates, Blackwood and Georgiev seem like the only guys that teams may be motivated to trade out.

And there are a lot of teams motivated to maintain/improve their goaltending

Reimer is probably the perfect goalie for a team that has a young guy in goal and wants a good 1A/1B situation.

Ducks are in the middle of a rebuild; unless new GM Verbeek can pull off some miracle moves to shore up the skating core & hires a new coach not named Dallas Eakins, I could see him being up for a trade to a team a lot closer to contention.

should be a really interesting summer in Anaheim!
