He's starting to put in a lot of best games recently. The defensive play he made in the third was fabulous.
I thought he was excellent in the d-zone tonight in general. Just an all around perfect effort from him. I like him

if I could change one thing about this game it’s the powerplay personnel. I don’t like Kane and Panarin together. And I HATE not putting Zib out at the beginning of each PP.

Put Kane with Zib on one unit, Tarasenko with Panarin on another unit.

You’ll have a guy who can blast it on both units, and a dynamic passer to set him up.

I just don’t feel like Panarin and Kane together are decisive enough. They overpass.

Kane Zib Tro Kreider should be unit 1.

Panarin, Tank, Laf, Chytil should be unit 2.

He didn’t score tonight but Lafreniere is going to become baby Kreider

I think both will be back. A kid and Goodrow will be moved to accommodate in imo. That’s a worry for the summer tho
Lafreniere hits more than Kreider but he’s obviously watched how Kreider goes to the net. I thought the Kid line had a pretty good night actually, especially Laf, but Chytil is snake bit as far as finishing. Kakko actually looked better tonight as well. I think their slump will end soon. I feel them coming on.

Kane‘s cap hit will be minimal because he will probably be LTIR for most of the year after hip surgery. I don’t think they will need to trade a Kid. Goodrow though is probably gone. Hopefully his value will be sky high after winning yet another cup.

The Kakko hate some have on here is so dumb. Whatever, I guess some people need a whipping boy.
Love the kid but he was bad tonight and he needs to learn to trust his shot and stop trying to keep the puck in the corner. I've said it a thousand times, this team is going nowhere unless the kids are a big part of it, that line is as important as any other to our success.

Hey Crosby...

That guy would be hurt by now if he was here.

Re Chychrun, not sure why it never showed it as a reply

I never thought of the hip surgery idea, that could actually work but hip surgery is usually a really long process.

Line up the forwards however you want but Fox needs to be with Mika

This. On the shift he drew the penalty, he beat two defenders. One left and the goalie. Go crash the net! Go send it across the crease and hope Laf wins the battle against the other D to knock it in...But instead he turned and went to the corner.

The biggest thing holding him back is in his head. This was his best game in 2 weeks, however, but that group still didn't get on the scoresheet.

Laf has been the best player on that line for weeks. Chytil is still moving his feet, but his finish is just gone. It's like he's not even aiming his shot anymore (he's rushing his release) and accordingly his chances haven't resulted in anything.

Tarasenko was phenomenal tonight, but I'd like to see him shoot high a little more. Defensively, he was great though, and it's clear he's getting more and more comfortable every day as he learns his new teammates. I really hope there's some way they can keep him, unlikely as it is, since they'll still need a top RW next season at this rate. Really like the chemistry with him and Zibanejad and hopefully GG can leave them together now.

Mikkola had one of his most solid games yet tonight.

Whatever was ailing Trouba earlier in the year might have finally healed..he's been a lot better of late. Night and day.

Can't stand the Penguins...loved to see them lose almost as much as I enjoyed seeing the Rangers win.

Sign Tarasenko to a sweetheart deal, sign Kane and long term IR him till the playoffs and let’s Tampa the f***ing league.

Tarasenko didn't just have a good game on the ice, he was a leader on the bench. Very impressed with him tonight.

In general, the team did a fantastic job managing the puck and the forwards had their best defensive game of the season. There wasn't a single lazy shift the entire night. They made the right decisions continuously. These games have been a rarity this year, so hopefully they can keep playing this way. And boy when they manage the puck better and play more N/S the team plays a much faster game.

Splitting Kane and Panarin was a great move. And seeing Tarasenko play more responsibly on the line with Zibby and Panarin is making a huge difference.

Also, I know Kakko didn't score tonight, but he seemed really engaged. In general, the kid line is starting to click again. Laffy and Kakko are both moving their legs and using their size.

Also, FWIW when the forwards come back, our defensemen, even the Ben Harpurs of the world, look pretty solid. In fact, all of the bigger D look almost elite when the forwards come back because they can focus on using their size around the net and along the walls.

Kreider also had his best game of the season. Loved his game.

There literally wasn't a single NYR player who had a bad game. It was the complete opposite of many games this season where even after a win it was hard to pick 3 good players for stars of the game.

Hope they can keep it up.
Miller looked a little unsure tonight, but the rest of the team played well.

one of the more interesting takes by the Penguins was that Tyler Motte deliberately elbowed Jeff Petry in the mush in the 1st period. Sorry but Petry found a way to run into that elbow as Motte was trying to push the puck to a teammate set up behind the Penguins goal. You can see the stick flying out of his hands as he's making that passing kind of movement that brings his elbow slightly upwards. That stick flying out of his hands the result of Petry's defensive play which he led with his face.

I’m curious to see how people spin that Kakko should get a top 6 RW spot next year over Tarasenko and/or Kane. Cuylle & Othmann knocking on the door
Cuylle might become a top 6 forward but when he was here he sure didn't look close to that, to me.
