I don’t see how anyone can watch this game and think the Pens are one top six forward away (subtracting Kap too) from getting to the SCF…Jarry’s #s have been declining, the team plays stupid and atrocious at home, we’re not nearly hard enough defending our crease and getting into the opposing team’s crease…same shit, same story

Carter has been with Malkin previously and he is with Malkin in the third period right now. It hasn't been anything special.

I mean, they'll need more than a few shifts to get a sense of how they'll do. I'd like to see them keep those two together for a few games. Kapanen has had more than enough time.

because one game doesn’t tell the full story, just as much as the Tampa game didn’t mean the Pens were the best team of all time.

agree…take this one game away and the game against Tampa and my point still remains…we’re nowhere near to being good enough to beat four teams enroute to the Cup

But they have been together for stretches already.

Carter and Malkin have played 62:4o of ice time together this year at 5-on-5. That's several games worth. They scored 2 goals and gave up 5.

The issue is..Carter just isn't good. He's another average forward that doesn't give much. We have almost an entire bottom nine filled with these players.

Tampa was not very sharp in that game to be fair, and FLA has been on it from the start. Only L1 was ready to match them, everyone else was asleep until he second period. Their speed is giving us a lot of trouble, more so because we just aren't sharp tonight. We're better than we're showing but we are still going to struggle if L2 and L3 can't figure it out. Especially L2 (Kapanen).

I think you either see or you don't. What's confusing is that the FO doesn't see it.
