Granted I don't wanna see Flower traded but it only makes sense with the expansion draft. Who would be willing to swap a defensemen for Flower?

Good. :)

So what do you want for Murray? You are just going to lose him in the expansion draft anyways . Unless Fleury agrees to be 'traded' and you offer enough 1st rounder to the team taking him.

Or MAF will be bought out, or traded to one of the teams not on his no-trade list.

Murray could offer some really good returns but not on his 900k contract. He'd have to be packaged with some salary dumps in exchange for something great - and even then I don't see the returning piece as being worth gambling our playoff future on MAF.

Why are we adding first to Flower?

Murray won't be available in the expansion draft, it's either trade MAF, bribe Vegas to not take Murray or buy out Fleury. If Vegas says no to the bribe, Fleury will just get bought out or traded. The idea that the Pens have to add to trade Fleury is so dumb that it doesn't merit a serious response.

Why do the Pens need a defenseman exactly? Once Letang's back, their defense will be fine.

Sounds to me like he believes that teams aren't going to give good value for Fleury due to the expansion draft and the pressure to trade him. However, I think it's pretty clear that even if you don't get a premium for Fleury that you will still get some decent value for him.

The real problem is whether or not Fleury waives his NMC... I'm not a pens fan so I have no idea if it has been brought up yet. I don't think the real concern is what you'll get for Fleury, but whether he waives and if you make the right decision (Murray looks great, but there have been a lot of goalies that play well for a year or two before fizzling out and you don't have as much time as the pens would like to make an informed decision).

Doesn't it make more sense to improve the pens defense than their ridiculously good offense? If Fluery waives his NMC, I'd have to think that the pens would target a defenseman over another forward.

Dumoulin-Letang
Maatta-Daley
Cole-Schultz
Pouliot

Why exactly do they need another defenseman? Who would they move out on defense if they bring in another guy? They actually need help on offense more than defense, their ES production has been incredibly weak this year.

I just don't think the defense has been that good so far, personal opinion. Maatta has been pretty slow looking to me. It was just a thought, I would of been fine trading him for 2 seconds at the draft

I'm not a pittsburgh fan and haven't watched any of their games this year so if you think offense is more of an issue than I'll back off. However, when I see that defense I still think that another top 4 Dman (or an improvement? Fleury + one of them for somebody better?) would be more beneficial than trading for a forward when you have three world-class offensive talents in Crosby, Malkin, and Kessel in addition to a supporting cast that seems to work very well with those three.

He doesn't have a full NTC. He can be traded to 18 teams without needing to waive.

From the Oilers? Puljujarvi. Seriously. Even then I'd probably ask for a small +.

With how respected MAF is in the Pens org, my guess is they will run any and all trades through him first even if he can be traded to that team without waiving. They know it's a tough way to end things so they will do their best to accommodate.

Penguins have two top 6 wingers and they both play on the right side.. They don't have a lot of wingers that can finish

Would be pretty interesting to see the return they could get for him. Not that it's likely he moves.

If Rutherford wanted 6th overall + for Fleury, I can't imagine the insane price he would put down for Matt Murray.

I don't see any team wanting to trade for Fleury without sending the goaltender they planned to protect from the beggining back, and even that list is pretty slim.

LOL ... yep, Pittsburgh signed Murray to the extension at a good rate only to lose him in the expansion draft. Do people have minds anymore?

Yeah Brad Treliving, Isn't going to trade a 23 year old Dougie Hamilton for a soon to be 32 year old Marc Andre-Fleury in any kind of deal. Besides i don't see Fleury waiving for Calgary pretty sure they're on his NTC.
